SCREENING OF APPLICANTS BEGINS IMMEDIATELY AND CONTINUES UNTIL POSITION IS FILLED

Job Summary: This position will be involved in the day-to-day functioning of the department as they will be working directly with clinical staff in the admissions department. The tasks involved include maintaining census reports, fielding inquiry calls, scheduling appointments, monitoring and managing incoming referrals, completing insurance authorizations, working with patients to complete admissions paperwork, and data entry. This position is responsible for crisis evaluations, preauthorization requests, and coordination of admissions to Cedar Springs. The position consists of answering phone calls, conducting mental health evaluations, evaluating for involuntary commitments, making clinical recommendations for optimal level of care referrals and community adjustment, coordinating with community providers and referral sources, and facilitating internal admissions to Cedar Springs programs. Needs to perform vitals, breathalyzer tests as well as temperature on each potential patient at time of evaluation.

The Assessment & Referral (A&R) Coordinator/Outpatient Clinician is primarily responsible for answering and managing telephone inquiries, scheduling psychiatric assessments, creating and updating patient inquiries in MS4 data entry system (including verification of benefits); setting expectations for patients regarding their services, reviewing transfer requests, and responding to all inquiring customer's information requests. Additionally, the A&R Coordinator is responsible for performing various administrative and clerical duties required to support these functions and, on an as-needed basis, may be required to perform other tasks. This position will report to the A&R Director to improve processes and fulfill daily responsibilities.

Cedar Springs Hospital COVID-19 vaccination mandate:

In accordance with Colorado state public health order, all healthcare workers must be vaccinated, and the Company must verify vaccine status. Pursuant to this public health order, the following modes constitute as proof of vaccination:

  • an electronic entry in the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS); OR
  • an immunization record from a licensed healthcare provider who has administered a COVID-19 vaccine to an individual who provides services for the facility or agency, specifying the vaccine administered, name and title of the person who administered the vaccine, address of the location where the vaccine was administered, and the date it was administered.

A COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card (issued by the Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control & Prevention or WHO Yellow Card) which includes name of person vaccinated, type of vaccine provided, and date last dose administered would suffice.

Exemptions

  • Workers may be exempt from the vaccination requirements by providing a signed exemption form indicating one of the following:

  • Religious Beliefs

  • Qualifying Medical Reason

  • To be eligible for an exemption based on Religious Beliefs, the worker must provide a written statement describing the worker's sincerely held religious beliefs and how those beliefs conflict with Colorado's August 21, 2021 Public Health Order requiring certain healthcare workers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The company may request supporting documentation to further evaluate the request for religious accommodation.

  • To be eligible for a Qualified Medical Reason exemption, the worker must provide a written statement signed by a physician, physician assistant, advanced practice nurse, or certified nurse midwife licensed in the State of Colorado stating that the COVID-19 vaccination for the employee, direct contractor, or support staff is medically contraindicated as described in the product labeling or authorized by the FDA. This statement should not describe the underlying medical condition or disability but should indicate the probable duration of the inability to receive the vaccine.

  • A record of signed exemption forms and statements submitted in support of the exemption request must be maintained in a confidential HR Medical file, separate from the Personnel File.

Qualifications

Job Tasks:

  • Manages all incoming referrals to ensure they are being reviewed and assessed in a timely manner

  • Responds to telephone and/or walk-in requests for psychiatric assistance

  • Assesses new transfer requests to determine if appropriate for admission

  • Maintains daily log of all incoming and pending Assessments

  • Completes the paperwork, labels, pictures, and admission forms of patients

  • Coordinates between the units and intake on all necessary paperwork and information

  • Collaborates with hospital personnel and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care

  • Maintains a good working relationship and ongoing communication with referral sources

  • Promotes a positive working environment and guest relations

  • Promotes safety by attending mandatory in-services and complies with all safety measures initiated by the facility

Master's Degree LPC, LCSW preferred.

Requirements: Requires analytical skills, high level clinical skills, and knowledge of mental health statutes, ethical and legal practice implications. Requires knowledge and understanding of EMTALA regulations and state requirements for involuntary commitments. Requires organizational, verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills, grammar and spelling, the ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, regulatory agencies, etc. using strong interpersonal communications skills. Ability to exercise professional independent judgment in planning own work, formulating recommendations and making decisions.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree required. Preferred of at least one year of experience with crisis work and mental health evaluations. Unlicensed and licensed individuals considered. If licensed, Colorado licensure must be in good standing meeting state requirements for enacting involuntary holds (e.g.: CSW, LPC, MFT) with two years of mental health experience.
