The Admissions Coordinator manages the intake of patient referrals and coordinates admissions for our critical illness recovery hospitals. Admissions Cooridnators help ensure that patient referrals are reviewed in a timely manner and they help to identify and remove barriers to admission. The Admissions Coordinator works closely with case management to prepare for incoming patients. This role is integral to keeping our admission process organized and efficient. Strong time management, organization skills and attention to detail are essential to the success of an Admissions Coordinator.


  • Bachelor's degree

  • Prior patient admission experience in a hospital, physician practice or insurance environment, preferred.

  • Direct experience in third party reimbursement and knowledge of how benefits under the Medicare program are applied is a plus.

  • Previous experience in third party reimbursement is desirable.

  • Must have expertise in problem solving, observation, group dynamics, and interpersonal relations, as well as, an ability to work independently and to prioritize responsibilities.

Our specialized multidisciplinary treatment services are provided by highly trained psychiatrists, therapists, addiction counselors, nurses, and activities therapists. Panama City, FL is located on the panhandle of northwest Florida on beautiful St. Andrews Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Emerald Coast Behavioral Health is owned and operated by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS). The RN - Admissions assists the assigned Nursing Team to include but not limited to Initial Nurses Assessment, note orders, prepare MAR, and assist with staff breaks. Provides leadership in maintaining standards for professional Nursing practice in the clinical setting. Provides medical management and assessment of patients. Ensures environmental safety. Works with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu. Essential Job Duties: * Assist the assigned Nursing Team to include but not limited to Initial Nurses Assessment, note orders, prepare MAR, and assist with staff breaks. * Conduct complete nursing assessment of all admissions including risk assessments (SAO, elopement, assault, suicide); educational needs, and medication review. * Complete all required nursing documents within established time frame. Update bed assigned in computer system as needed. * Assist in the safety of the Nursing Units by utilizing the portable metal detector to scan all patients during hand off report. * Communicate appropriate patient related information to charge nurse, team members and others as necessary. Discuss current issues, special treatment needs, precautions and observations with treatment team members and works to develop plans to meet these needs.
