Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a full-time Admission Counselor/Assistant Director of Admission.

Job Details:

  • Location: F&M Campus
  • Lancaster, PA
  • Classification: Full-time / Exempt

  • Schedule: 40 hours, Monday

  • Friday. Some evenings and weekend work required.
  • Reports to: Associate Director of Admission

Job Description:

The Admission Counselor is responsible for the identification, recruitment, and evaluation of promising prospective students within the assigned territory. The Admission Counselor will build and manage relationships, on behalf of Franklin & Marshall College, with prospective students, parents, and secondary school counselors in the assigned territory. The Admission Counselor will evaluate admission applications and make decisions/recommendations regarding the admission of prospective students. The Admission Counselor travels extensively during peak recruitment periods, locally and nationally, and participates in on campus recruitment events, which may include evening and weekend hours.

Essential Functions:

  • Builds, manages, and maintains a recruitment strategy in the assigned territory by representing F&M and its distinctive programs and co-curricular offerings at recruitment events (e.g. school visits, college fairs, etc.) to identify and cultivate potential applicants. Meet one on one with identified potential applicants, as necessary, to promote F&M and encourage application. Conduct both live and virtual informational sessions and prospective student meetings.

  • Serves as the primary contact for secondary school counselors, secondary school administrators, and community-based organizations to provide accurate and persuasive information about F&M to foster strong partnerships and develop an applicant pipeline.

  • Serve as a partner to counsel and provide pre-advising to a diverse set of prospective students, parents, and high school counselors about the admissions process.

  • Review and evaluate admission applications of prospective first-year and transfer students for the purpose of making admissions decisions or recommendations to Franklin & Marshall College.

  • Lead information sessions and student, family, and counselor meetings; all in support of F&M's daily visit program.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of recruitment strategies for students from targeted areas and underrepresented populations and tracks recruiting efforts to better manage the assigned territory.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Entry level position; no experience required. (3+ years of experience to be considered at the Assistant Director of Admission level).

  • Because this position requires driving for college business, the successful candidate must possess a U.S. or Canadian driver's license which has been valid for at least two years, have a driving record that is free from excessive motor vehicle violations within the last three years, and have had no convictions in the last 24 months for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  • Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of higher education experience.

  • Prior customer service or sales experience.

Additional Information:
