Job Description

Summary/objective

To recruit and enroll qualified college bound high school students to Randolph College.

Essential functions

As part of a proactive recruitment team, you will be expected to:

  • Create and implement recruitment tactics.

  • Manage and successfully maintain designated recruitment territories.

  • Prioritize recruitment objectives and goals, while completing tasks as changing strategies require.

  • Utilize data to effectively evaluate strategy and priorities.

  • Fulfill predetermined recruiting targets in designated markets and/or territories.

  • Interact with prospective students, families, high school and college personnel.

  • Coordinate the admissions process from prospect to enrollment.

  • Organize and actively participate in recruitment fairs and events.

  • Actively engage with students and families during campus visits and events in a professional and personable manner.

  • Maintain a consistent personalized information-sharing campaign via multiple communication channels to prospective students and families.

  • Create a plan and timeline for Fall and Spring recruitment and travel.

  • Work required evenings and weekends, and be adaptable to flexible hours and travel

Competencies

Each admission counselor will receive interdisciplinary training and be required to work with students from all segments of the College's market (undergraduate-First Year, Transfer, and International). An admission counselor will have a designated set of key responsibilities. Based on business requirements, continuing assessments of best practices, and team activities, counselors will separately service each market for the length of time and in what depth that is deemed appropriate. High school students and families, high school staff, and/or community partnerships will be the main areas of attention for counselors due to the high degree of involvement that these audiences require.

  • Demonstrate and reflect an understanding of and commitment to the mission and core values of Randolph College.

  • Engage in professional behavior that supports the dynamics and advancement of all enrollment units while supporting the accomplishment of individual job obligations.

  • Effectively manage a territory by gathering and evaluating data to determine which schools, fairs, and students to strategically target, as well assist identifying the territorial strategies that will be most effective within each market to support goal attainment.

  • Proactively create and cultivate prospect interest using both conventional and cutting-edge methods. Increase connections within schools and communities, in order to determine potential partnerships to offer and put into practice feeder development plans.

  • Evaluate, design, and implement marketing, communication, and recruitment initiatives. Assist with online communication or marketing projects as needed.

  • Create specialized recruitment or marketing materials as needed in collaboration with the admissions team and the Office of College Relations.

  • Work with potential students to streamline the enrollment process by assisting with the application, interviews, billing, housing, and other necessary steps.

  • Evaluate applicant files and provide admission and scholarship recommendations.

  • Utilize electronic media and enrollment data systems to recruit students in a way that best suits the target market. (Example: web portals, social media, e-blasts, blogs, chat, etc.)

  • Actively engage prospects at recruitment fairs and events.

  • Plan and deliver recruitment presentations at target schools, fairs, or other community outreach events.

  • Utilize efficient and proactive communication avenues to students and families to guide them through the admission and enrollment process in a timely and encouraging manner.

  • Assume a proactive and collaborative role as part of a cohesive recruitment team by:

  • Performing essential roles as assigned or required at all recruitment events on and off campus; supporting event planning and implementation, as needed.

  • Actively and aggressively tracking and modifying progress toward individual goals in an effort to ensure the team goal.

  • Using sound judgment to set priorities, making educated decisions, and problem solving; skillfully managing one's own time, territories, and projects; and accepting or overcoming challenges with creativity and patience.

  • Contributing to the ongoing creation, planning, execution, and evaluation of all recruiting initiatives and effective admission and office policies and procedures to support enrollment management best practices.

  • Perform other responsibilities and special initiatives as assigned to satisfy changing business demands.

Supervisory responsibilities

Utilize communication among College personnel and resources to efficiently manage and carry out designated liaison responsibilities. Supervise student workers/volunteers, for specific projects as needed.

Work environment

In addition to in office responsibilities, frequent travel is required. Flexible work hours are necessary during the week, along with occasional weekend or evening work, travel, and overnight stays. Must have the ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for an extended amount of time.

Physical demands

May periodically lift 25-50 pounds, or may walk, and/or bend to carry-out certain tasks. Extended periods of time standing or walking at events, fairs, and on-campus tours.

Travel required

25-50% of travel includes, but not limited to, day trips, overnight stays.

Required education and experience

Bachelor's degree.

Preferred education and experience

  • Service and teamwork oriented.

  • Time management capabilities.

  • Strong public speaking, interpersonal, and writing skills are essential.

  • Must be an educated people-person who enjoys dealing with the target audience (teens, young adults, or working professionals), as well as school officials.

  • Knowledge or an interest in studying best practices in enrollment is essential.

  • Commitment to honesty and integrity to the admissions process.

  • The ability to speak Spanish, as well as foreign experience or interest, would be advantageous.

  • Experience in recruitment, sales, or outreach in a fast-paced, goal-oriented operation.

Additional eligibility requirements

Must have a valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record.

Work authorization/security clearance requirements

Must meet employment requirements to work legally in the U.S. and be able to pass a background check as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree required.

speaking, interpersonal, and writing abilities required. Must be an intelligent people-person and enjoy

school personnel. Knowledge or interest in learning best practices in enrollment a key. Valid

driver's license and clean driving record required, as is ability to transport recruitment materials.

Commitment to integrity in the admissions process. Ability to speak Spanish, and/or international

experience or interest, would be beneficial.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Extensive travel in addition to office work. Position requires flexible hours during week, with

sometimes significant evening or weekend work, travel, and overnight stays is required. Must be able to

work at desk and on computer for long periods of time. May occasionally lift 10/15 lbs., or may walk

and/or bend in the performance of the job functions. Valid drivers' license required.
