UPMC Jameson is currently hiring a Full-Time Administrator On Duty (AOD) to cover all shifts at our New Castle, PA location.

The AOD is an experienced RN whose expert organizational, analytical, and problem-solving acumen keep the hospital running smoothly. Quick-thinking, adaptable, and always on the move, the AOD is the hospital's point person for bedflow management and other daily operations, proactively coordinating patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, as well as directing information to appropriate internal and external stakeholders.

As AOD, you will maintain active communication with all units to identify and minimize any potential problems in hospital function including, but not limited to, issues concerning patient relations, admissions and capacity management, staffing optimization, patient/visitor comfort and safety, and risk management. You will serve at all times as a representative of hospital administration, and provide interim leadership to individual units when unit director/manager is not present.

Title and salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience. Those who meet the qualifications for a Administrator on Duty (AOD), Fellow title will be considered for this position (minimum salary for AOD Fellows is $26.55).

Responsibilities:

  • Analytical ability necessary to evaluate staff, address and improve clinical issues and devise solutions to complex problems.

  • Demonstrates good judgment and analytical ability to oversee and coordinate patient placement through facilitation of the Admission/Discharge/Transfer (ADT) process and collaborate with the physician and health care team. Uses critical thinking skills to effectively advise and direct health care providers in their delivery of patient care while maximizing the efficient use of resources. Identifies problems impacting effective hospital function and initiate corrective action independently and/or through contact with appropriate administrative persons including Risk Management, Legal Services, Patient Relations, Administrator, and/or the appropriate department director. Monitors and assists in maintaining a physical environment that supports patient, personnel, visitor safety; patient/family comfort; and staff efficiency.

  • Demonstrates interest in the development of others and positively impacts the lives of patients/families, peers, and members of the healthcare team through mentoring, education, and knowledge sharing Actively participates in the role of preceptor for student nurses, nurse interns, graduate and experienced nurses and assists with the development of new preceptors in their role. Mentors and role models quest for continuous learning through formal education and the development of others. Seeks opportunities to share expertise with other members of the healthcare team within and beyond the clinical unit/department.

  • Leadership ability to maintain standards of performance within a national context for professional nursing practice and comply with administrative and regulatory requirements.

  • Serves as a leader supporting hospital administration by identifying and resolving patient and staff focused opportunities for improvement Involves staff and key stakeholders to achieve optimal patient experience and efficient hospital throughput. Uses appropriate interpersonal styles and techniques to gain acceptance of ideas or plans; modifying one's own behavior to accommodate tasks, situations and individuals involved. Supports staff during times of difficult transitions. Demonstrates ability to influence the external environment through participation in professional and advocacy organizations.

  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to effectively create and maintain a positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families in both written and verbal communication.

  • Utilizes research and evidence-based practice to support improvement including but not limited to capacity management: identifies research issues or articles related to improving patient throughput, discusses opportunities for quality improvement and actively pursues opportunities for change

Qualifications

AOD Requirements:

BSN required. CNL/MSN preferred

Minimum of 3 years progressive leadership experience with relevant clinical experience preferred

Must maintain a solid/strong performer rating on annual performance review

AOD Fellow Requirements:

BSN required, either at time of hire/transfer, or must be enrolled in a program within one year of hire/transfer date and completed within three years of enrollment. (i.e. public health, informational technology, administration, etc.)

Minimum of 3 years progressive leadership experience with relevant clinical experience preferred

Must maintain a solid/strong performer rating on annual performance review

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 33 Child Clearance with Renewal

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance

  • Basic Life Support

  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

  • Registered Nurse

This position will require day-to-day management of 30+ EGI WAN remote locations, with a primary focus on facilities located in Pennsylvania. The Network Administrator will manage a corporate-wide Active Directory, as well as upgrade and improve the overall IT infrastructure at the EGI facilities. This position is responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, installing, and supporting company's computer systems: LANs, WANs, Internet and intranet systems, and network segments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Manage LAN/WAN performance and security; * WAN management to include working closely with Telco providers for circuit installation and troubleshooting; * Manage local area network, network cabling, switches, servers, wireless, file/print, with broad scope of various cross discipline security services; * Review and analyze software and hardware needs; * Recommend changes and upgrades to ensure software and hardware are meeting the management information needs, while maintaining compliance with other corporate mandated systems; * Work with Business Unit managers and employees to help solve business issues or challenges, including but not restricted to issues relating to the computer system; * Provide first level of support to business and local users in all facets of IT and to help develop and enforce policies and procedures (both local and corporate wide); * Assist the IT Infrastructure Group with EGI-wide projects concerning training, information systems or technologies such as WAN, telecommunications, acquisitions, etc.; * Troubleshoot and help support day-to-day problem resolutions at Business Units; * Work closely with business units and PBX vendors for the setup and configuration of telephones and telephone system management; * Provide general backup and support to EGI IT Department at other EGI business units on an as needed basis; * Install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems; * Install and maintain network hardware and software; * Evaluate and modify system's performance; * Analyze and isolate issues; * Monitor networks to ensure security and availability to specific users; * Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security; * Ensure network connectivity throughout a company's LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations; * Design and deploy networks; * Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers; * Maintain network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems; * Identify user needs; * Determine network and system requirements; * Perform network address assignment; * Assign routing protocols and routing table configuration; * Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services; * Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, personal digital assistants, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches; * Available for emergency situations that may arise outside the course of the regular workday or week; Education and Experience * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred, or equivalent work experience * Minimum of five (5) years' experience in basic Network Administration tasks in a multi-site environment * Minimum of two (2) years' experience with VMWare, I-SCSI Storage SANS, Microsoft Exchange/Office 365 * Minimum of two (2) years' of switching and routing experience, preferably in a Cisco environment * Experience with I-SCSI storage systems, file server backup technologies, VMWare architecture & technologies, and with Microsoft Exchange E-Mail systems and/or Office 36.
