Main Purpose of Job
To oversee the STARR Behavior Modification Program
implemented in the DJS facilities and manage special projects for the Director
of Behavioral Health. The STARR (Solve problems, be
Task-focused, Act as a role model, Respect self and others, and be Responsible
for my behavior) Behavior Modification Program incorporates
Facility-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (FW-PBIS) principles
and is focused on improving youth behavior. It is used throughout each
committed facility, as all staff and youth are involved in the program.
To chair the Central Programming Committee (CPC) PC (is the clearinghouse
of all programming provided
in the DJS committed and detention
facilities. The CPC shall be
responsible for meeting the DJS goals
listed below by making recommendations to the Deputy Secretary of Operations to implement new
programs; overseeing the implementation of programs,
and evaluating the effectiveness of
programs in the DJS committed and detention facilities.

POSITION DUTIES

Manages the STARR Behavior Modification Program
implemented in the DJS facilities by:

Overseeing
and monitoring the development, implementation, and performance of the STARR

Behavior Modification Program;

Chairing
the Central Programming Committee (CPC);

Collaborating
with the CPC, CPC subcommittees, and the local FW-PBIS Leadership teams to
celebrate facility-based and systemic program successes, identify
facility-based and systemic implementation needs, and problem-solve
facility-based and systemic implementation needs.�

Manages special projects for the Executive Director
of Behavioral Health by:

Developing
and implementing the plan to meet project goals and deadlines;

Monitoring
and reporting project progression to the Executive Director of Behavioral

Health and problem-solving issues;

Being the
liaison between headquarters, the regions, and facilities for matters
pertaining to projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:���Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:�Six years of administrative staff or professional work.�
Notes:
1.Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
2.Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree�from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.�
3.Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university�for five years of�the required�experience.
4.�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
Two years of
project management experience that includes tracking the implantation of
programming for youth in a residential setting.�

Two years of
experience advising, training, and leading efforts to ensure the continuation,
efficacy, and sustainability of evidenced-based programming for youth.

Experience
maintaining liaison and cooperative relationships with internal and external
customers.

At least one
year of experience supporting executive and senior leadership staff.

Proficient
experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
etc.).��

Strong written
and oral communication skills.�

Ability to
prioritize and multi-task effectively.�

Strong time
management, priority setting, and problem-solving skills.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This recruitment is limited to current DJS employees only.

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
