The purpose of this class is to perform professional administrative work supporting a functional area within assigned College department or function.

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of professional experience administering job classification and compensation systems for an employee population, preferably in an academic environment. World at Work Certified Compensation Professional certification is strongly preferred.

  • Provide leadership and technical proficiency to assigned College division and/or function.

  • Remain knowledgeable about the College, its structure, culture, policies, and practices.

  • Serve as point of contact for internal and external organizations.

  • Prepare and analyze reports, as requested.

  • Develop policies and procedures, as required.

  • Serve as an advocate for the College and its students, as required.

  • Serve as liaison between College departments, faculty and/or staff, as required.

  • Write new job descriptions. or revise existing descriptions applying approved market pricing guidelines consistent with internal and external equity benchmarks to recommend classification, exempt/non-exempt status, and compensation grade for revised and new positions.

  • Maintain the integrity of the job classification structure for all positions.

  • Establish and maintain complete job description files for all positions at the College.

  • Lead compensation projects for Job Study Requests, present information to CWA members, and research information for job appeals.

  • Ensure compliance with classified contracts, plus applicable laws and regulations.

  • Research and perform job studies to identify recommendations and present findings to leadership staff, compensation committees, and union officials, as needed.

  • Collaborate with recruitment personnel to review proposed job postings to ensure that data is consistent with the job description. Resolve discrepancies if applicable.

  • Participate in periodic review of salary structures and other compensation studies.

  • Collect data and provide CCBC input to compensation and benefits surveys.

  • Assist with distribution, collection, and review of performance appraisal materials, including a bi-annual review and approval of job descriptions.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to employee groups on compensation initiatives and processes as required.

  • Collaborate with management, staff, and collective bargaining leadership in conducting compensation projects.

  • Meet schedules and timelines, organize multiple projects efficiently and effectively, and carry out required project details throughout the year.

  • Review checklists, policies, and processes for all job-related functions at least annually to ensure any changes are recorded in a timely manner.

  • Excel in professional interactions with employees at all levels of the organization, including 24-hour turnaround for emails and phone calls, collegiate discussions and interactions with employees at all levels of the organization.
