Job Summary

Under limited direction, is responsible for overseeing all functions and activities within intake and program and operations units of Children's Village. Supervises the design, implementation and evaluation of therapeutic plans.

Ensures that staffing, services and programs are deployed appropriately on a round-the clock-basis. Ensures legislative requirements are maintained and licensing rules for child care institutions are adhered to. Responsible for various facility operations and support functions within Children's Village, including communications/security system and radio control, building and grounds, risk management, maintenance services, and safety issues.

Functions as a liaison with local, state, federal and county departments, outside vendors, service providers, and regulatory agencies. Coordinates vehicle assignment, maintenance and other transportation issues. Oversees clerical functions involved in designing, instituting and maintaining inventory and control systems to assist the Village in keeping within its budget.

Acts as liaison between division and Information Technology to develop computerized management reports. Performs public relations duties as required. Remains available for emergencies on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis as dictated by on call schedule. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. a. Possess a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Administration, Human Resource Development, or related area; AND

b. Have had at least five (5) years of full-time casework or administrative/ supervisory work experience in a social service setting. OR



  1. a. Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Administration, Human Resource Development, or related area; AND

b. Have had at least seven (7) years of full-time casework or administrative/supervisory work experience in a social service setting.

3.Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. Out of Country driver's license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver's license before the hire date.

4.Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.

5.Successfully complete the six month probationary period.

College Transcripts

Special Requirements

1.Must maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's license.

2.Must submit to immunizations as requested by the Department of Health & Human Services and to periodic tuberculin skin tests or chest X-rays at County expense.

3.Must obtain and maintain valid instructor certificates in CPR and CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute).

4.Must obtain and maintain ability to be bonded to handle cash.

5.Before beginning employment candidates will be required to provide Children's Village with documentation from the Michigan Department of Human Services that they have not been named in a central registry case as the perpetrator of child abuse or child neglect. In addition, applicants being considered for hire will be asked to sign a form authorizing Children's Village to request and receive a criminal history check in accordance with the privacy act of 1974.

Applicants for positions at Children's Village will not be considered if they have been convicted of either of the following:

(a) Child Abuse or Neglect

(b) A felony involving harm or threatened harm to an individual within the 10 years immediately preceding the date of hire.
