JOB SUMMARY

The position of Administrative Technician/Criminal Investigations Division is a specialized position within the Bentonville Police Department, reporting to the Criminal Investigations Captain.

The Administrative Technician provides "High Level" administrative and technical support to the Police department, including setting up and maintaining specialized computer application programs which have a moderate degree of complexity. Provide consultation, assistance, and instruction to department leaders and supervisors staff with respect to special department software and its applications.

Provides data administrative support for conferences and presentations. Performs other jobs as deemed necessary within their respective departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position performs a unique combination of services, necessary to support the Criminal Investigations Division including, but not limited to, property and evidence management, preparing court documents and internal reports, criminal case coordination, case related research, and information gathering,

  • Coordinates the purchasing for several internal department accounts for general office supplies and equipment.

  • Assists the Criminal Investigation Division as needed.

  • Reviews and notarizes various forms that are sent to state agencies, including training forms.

  • Prepares, composes, types, distributes, and files letter, forms, reports, contracts, requisitions, purchase orders, general correspondence, and other documents related to department operations.

  • Assists in the preparation of the department operating budget and may advise department head on expenditures and budget control matters.

  • Play a crucial role in supporting law enforcement agencies by analyzing data, trends, and patterns to enhance crime prevention, investigation, and operational strategies. You will collaborate with law enforcement personnel to provide actionable insights and intelligence to improve public safety and optimize resource allocation.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This position has no direct reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Prefer overall understanding of law enforcement operations and practices, procedures, records keeping and management, along with district/circuit court familiarity.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. English/Spanish bilingual oral communication skill preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Arkansas Drivers License

Ability to obtain certain department certifications, credentials, and licenses as determined by the department head.

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Outlook

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. As part of their job duties, the employee must occasionally work outdoors and may have to walk rugged terrain.
