Summary

The Office of Airports (ARP) provides leadership to airport owners and operators (as well as key stakeholders) to ensure that U.S. airports are safe and efficient as possible. This position serves as an Administrative Support Specialist to the Associate and Deputy Associate Administrator supporting Airports in accomplishing mission critical responsibilities and key agency goals and objectives through the performance of administrative and program support duties.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of administrative and management support duties to assist in the planning, management, and direction of the organization. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate considerable independence in planning time and coordinates only as needed with a manager, or higher graded specialist to prioritize tasks and use assigned resources. The incumbent serves as a support specialist for support staff to coordinate multiple assignments. The assignments may be broad or limited in scope and involve other elements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), other Department of Transportation (DOT) operating elements, other Government agencies, and/or private industry.
Applies experience and an advanced knowledge of qualitative and quantitative management techniques used for analyzing and measuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of administrative programs. Conducts studies, analyzes findings, and makes recommendations for work processes or programs for administrative support activities.
Identifies and anticipates office management issues and recommends solutions. Keeps Associate and Deputy Associate Administrator and others informed of changes in policies and procedures. Collects and analyzes data/information, conducts research, applies policies and procedures, identifies problems and works with high-level and lower-level professionals in day-to-day operations.
Maintains Airports business plan, ensuring all monthly reporting is received from the Division Managers and updated to the Business Plan Site. Performs quality reviews of information received and resolves discrepancies prior to input.
Assists in a variety of functions in direct support of all programs. Provides program information and staff assistance to Airports management team. Performs a full range of administrative functions for the office.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate at least one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to the next lower grade/pay band (FG/GS-10 or FV-G) in the Federal Government. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is typically in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Experience performing a variety of administrative, office and management support services to assist the front office in the planning, management, and direction of the organization; OR
Experience coordinating with multiple offices to accomplish assigned tasks and ensuring assigned tasks are completed based on priority and need of the office; AND
Providing guidance on established administrative policies and procedures.
