Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The Division of University Advancement serves to connect external parties with opportunities to partner, support, and participate with Fayetteville State University and its programming. The division is responsible for all development and fundraising-related activities and the planning and organization of university programs. The division is organized to conduct the following functions: Major gifts solicitations, annual giving, planned to give, corporate and foundation giving, alumni relations, donor relations, capital campaign planning and implementation, processing and acknowledgment of gifts, career services activities, and donor research.

Primary Purpose of the Position:

This position ensures the division is following appropriate guidelines provided by the IRS and CASE for the receiving, receipting, and acknowledgement of private support to the university. The data entry, gift processing, and acknowledgement of contributions requires effective communication with various units across campus, responding to issues from academic units in regard to contributions. The position is responsible for acknowledgement letters to donors and ensures all gifts are properly recorded in the Banner system and maintained in donor files.

The gifts processor for the Division of Institutional Advancement is responsible for the successful:

  • Receipt of private gifts to the university

  • Documentation of receipted gifts

  • Maintenance of donor records and files

  • Accurate entry of all gifts to the university

  • Reconciliation of all gifts

  • Establishment of scholarship or fund accounts

  • Preparation of all acknowledgement letters to donors

  • Preparation of timely reports on a weekly, monthly or as needed basis

  • Response to data requests from other campus units

Description of Work Continued:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Knowledge skills and abilities:

1.Strong oral and writing skills.

2.Documented skill in the Banner system, WORD, Excel etc. required.

3.Attention to detail and strong editing skills.

4.Knowledge of basic fundraising (gifts).

5.Confidence in effectively communicating across a wide variety of platforms, including telephone, written and in-person.

6.Demonstrable initiative, strong problem resolution and organizational skills.

7.Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in an unsupervised environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two year degree in business administration and/or accounting or commensurate professional experience.

Strong computer skills and comprehension, particularly in the Banner system

Customer service and quality assurance methodology.
