Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The North Carolina A&T State Honors College (HC) is the unit on campus responsible for creating a series of programming, curricular and co-curricular initiatives that assists high-achieving students excel in their college careers. The HC has grown to over 1000 current students representing nearly every academic department on campus. Friday 8:00 am

Required Competency Administrative Duties Duties
The position incumbent will serve as the Executive Assistant to the Dean of the Honors College who is responsible for working to create meaningful outcomes for its students, staff and the college.
The Executive Assistant serves as a direct extension of the Dean and will also support Honors staff and perform a wide variety of complex office functions in a fast-paced office setting.
The Executive Assistant serves as the overall expert, primary resource, principal administrator, office and project manager, as well as program support specialist.
Other duties as assigned by the HC Dean.
Required Competency Business and Records Administration Duties
Prioritizes and negotiates organizational needs regarding meetings, timeframes, and deadlines Exercises delegated authority to speak on behalf of the Dean regarding a variety of administrative and programmatic matters.
Demonstrates sound judgment, discretion, and respect for confidentiality.
Builds strong professional relationships with both internal and external constituents (i.e., Honors staff, NC A&T affiliates, sponsors, partners, donors, alumni, and vendors).
Independently analyzes, resolves, and develops recommendations.
Must have a strong dedication to customer service and commitment to student success.
Uses judgment and independence to make changes to schedules and matters of the Dean.

Required Competency Customer Service/Communication Duties
Facilitates and coordinates university, local, state, national/federal meetings on behalf of College.
Tracks and monitors pending issues for follow-up and independently develops agenda for future meetings.
Organizes and assimilates documents for staff and advisory board meetings.
Independently compiles, analyzes, assimilates, and composes information into varied or non-standard formats (website, publications) with responsibility for content review, accuracy, quality, and timelines, requiring in-depth program knowledge and interpretation.
Assists in event planning.

Required Competency Communication and Teamwork Duties
The position plays a pivotal role in the daily operational effectiveness of the Dean of the Honors College. The duties of this position include: manage the Dean's calendar; record minutes of meetings; collect data; maintain various reports; organize meetings and conferences (arrange catered meals, agendas, etc.; arrange travel for Dean's meetings/conferences (registration, hotel, air, rental car, etc.); review and manage incoming phone calls, email, and correspondence to the Dean and Honors College; draft emails and/or correspondence using independent discretion; answer, and when appropriate, accurately refer questions or issues to the most appropriate division staff member, other staff within Honors College and NC A&T.
The position plays an important role in developing and implementing annual HC programs such as the Honors graduation ceremony and other projects as assigned by the HC Dean.
