This position may involve support of various hospitals and health care systems within the UNC Health Care System, but will be employed by Rex Hospital, Inc. (this includes, but is not limited to, for purposes of payroll, health benefits, retirement options, and applicable policies)

Scheduled Work Hours: Every other weekend 3pm-11:30pm
UNC Wakebrook is a mental health facility with dedicated departments for Crisis Assessment, Facility Based Care, Adult Detoxification Unit and an Inpatient Care Unit.
Seeking highly motivated individuals to join float pool to perform patient registration in urgent/emergent environments. It is a per diem position that supports Crisis Services on the Wakebrook campus. This individual is responsible for coordinating the admission (registration) and scheduling of patient and works closely with the clinical staff to assure appropriate protocols are followed for EMTALA compliance. This individual is accountable to collect accurate demographic and insurance information and communicate with hospital departments and physician offices concerning patient's registration information.
Serve as the first point of contact for UNCH patients by offering a positive patient experience.
Verifying demographic information including address, contact numbers and insurance information.
Explaining and obtaining signatures for legal documents such as consent for treatment, Tricare and Medicare Rights.
Bedside registration on patients admitted to the Inpatient Unit (IPU), Alcohol Detox Unit (ADU) and Facility Based Crisis Unit (FB).
Reimbursement for services:
Ensuring proper entering and filing of active insurance policies.
Collecting on same day service fees.
Collecting on past balances.
Working in coordination with financial counselors to help patients meet their financial obligations.
Ensures that Alpha enrollments are completed accurately and are entered in a timely manner.
Completes daily point-of-service payments (cash, credit card, check) for co-pays, deductibles, coinsurances, pre-payments and balance collections at the end of every shift, prepare a daily deposit, and report any discrepancies
Face to face patient interaction.
Answering phones, communicating effectively with patients and internal customers.
Utilization of de-escalation techniques for dealing with nervous or upset patients and their family.
Works as part of an interdisciplinary care team, establishes, educates and maintains an effective working relationship with physicians, administrators, co-workers and staff.
Hospital & Emergency Department Registration Experience, EPIC Admission, Discharge, Transfer (ADT) experience is a plus but not required.
