ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is part of the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences. Our mission is to foster human communication by: conducting research that increases the scientific understanding of communication in both typically developing and communication-disorders populations; education and mentoring scientists, clinicians, and interpreters who work according to best practices; operating teaching clinics that provide high quality diagnostic and treatment services to diverse populations; advocating for and raising awareness of the communication needs and the rights of Deaf people and of those with speech, language, and hearing disorders.
The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders offers undergraduate degrees in language, speech and hearing and sign language interpreter training. Our graduate programs include a masters in speech language pathology, a doctorate in audiology and a doctoral research degree in communication sciences and disorders.
The department also provides interpreter services to the university and community.

News and World Report 2021. As a part of this pedagogical effort, we operate three clinics.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Administrative Specialist position will provide administrative support to the Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders.
This position has been designated "Time-Limited" and is subject to the Statement of Terms and Conditions For Time-Limited Appointments. This position is funded by non-recurring funds and is conditioned upon the continuation of those funds. This appointment is considered temporary and in the event funding is discontinued or reduced, this appointment may end sooner or result in a reduction of your FTE (full time equivalent).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform the full range of purchasing functions to satisfy department needs. Prepare travel authorizations, expense reports and purchase orders through the University FAST system and paper requisitions, P-Cards, and other appropriate methods.
Ensure purchases and payment are made in a timely manner. Reconcile P-Card charges for all Department card holders and complete monthly reports.
Provide administrative support to the Au.D. and Ph.D. programs, including support to the admissions process, room scheduling and course scheduling management (working in Banner and Oasis), whilst working closely with the Program Directors.
Provide administrative support to the Department Chair, Program Directors & Faculty. Minute taker at the monthly Faculty meetings and Executive Committee meetings, coordinates international & domestic visitors to the department.
Provides back-up support to the Academic Program Specialist. Gather data for reporting for ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) Accreditation.
Prepare and monitor monthly contract billing for services rendered by HOUSF and AuD clinic. Submit journal transfers for interdepartmental billing revenue. Initiate foundation check requests and complete monthly reconciliation for department foundation and RIA funds
Maintains faculty workload reports, annual evaluation information and credentialing information in the FAIR database.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
High school diploma or equivalent with 3 years of experience in an office or administrative role. Education may be substituted for the experience requirement.
