Description

Do you enjoy working with the public? Are you a multi-tasker? Detail-oriented? Self-motivated? The Kentucky Personnel Board is seeking to hire an Administrative Specialist III to complement our team. The Personnel Board adjudicates issues between Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS) Chapter 18A employees/applicants and state agencies. An Administrative Specialist III is required to handle strict confidential data in a professional and ethical manner on a daily basis. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic and prior legal experience. This position will utilize eMars Statewide Accounting and ProLaw Case Management to provide clerical support for staff, Board members, and Hearing Officers.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Create files, to include processing and/or proofreading legal documents for staff attorneys

  • Maintain, organize, and archive files according to Board policies

  • Oversight of inventory, including ordering supplies

  • Ability to work well without close supervision

  • Work with personal and confidential information

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills on the telephone and in person

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Working in a team environment

This position requires using various computer programs and sitting at a desk for extended periods of time.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
