The Department of Mental Health is a drug-free workplace. All candidates will be required to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug test.

This position is located at William S. Hall Psychiatric Hospital at 220 Faison Drive, Columbia, SC 29203.

Under general supervision, applies the policies and procedures of the Medicaid, KePRO, and third-party insurance program for psychiatric, drug and chemical dependency inpatient and outpatient services. Determines patient's insurance eligibility and prepares necessary forms.

Assists the Utilization Management Nurse and DMH Reimbursement by providing all insurance information within the required time period. Contacts insurance companies and provides demographic information for pre-certification. Prepares medical records for scanning and scans medical records. Assembles and analyzes medical records.

A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.

Preferred Qualifications:
Agency Preferred: Associate Degree in Secretarial Science or other reated fields or high school diploma with 2 years experience. One year of experience preferably in Medicare, Medicaid and other third party insurance.
