ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST: Performs various administrative support duties in an assigned program, division, or department using technical knowledge of work areas. Responsibilities may include: coordinating staffing needs; reviewing, verifying, and processing applications, certifications, licenses, permits and other documents; preparing and providing specific department information to client and the public; maintaining databases and department websites; preparing and modifying routine and non-routine reports, newsletters and correspondence; monitoring deposits and payments; maintaining office supply and inventory; preparing meeting agenda and taking minutes; and coordinating events; planning and coordinating the work of assigned support staff. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or GED
Three (3) years of clerical, administrative or related work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must be computer proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment.
