Connecticut Children's Office for Community Child Health is seeking a dynamic, action-oriented program coordinator to support the North Hartford Ascend Pipeline (Ascend): a multi-sector, comprehensive, integrated, and coordinated prenatal through career pipeline designed to improve academic and developmental outcomes and long-term well-being and quality of life of children and families in the North Hartford Promise Zone. Ascend's core components include: 1) creating a universally accessible pipeline of services; 2) leveraging a parent- and family-led agenda and community-driven engagement, marketing, and communication strategies; 3) operationalizing targeted universalism to achieve equity; 4) strengthening families' protective factors; 5) supporting early identification of family priorities, needs, and concerns, referring to aligned services, and ensuring linkage to services; and 6) data collection and analysis to improve quality, monitor implementation, and understand impact. Ascend is funded by a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education Promise Neighborhoods program and sponsored by Connecticut Children's.

Under limited supervision, perform a variety of administrative, programmatic, and operational support duties to support planning, implementation, evaluation, and sustainability of Ascend. This position will collaborate with other programs within the Office for Community Child Health, including but not limited to Childhood Prosperity Lab, Injury Prevention Center, and Easy Breathing, and participate in departmental and organizational initiatives as requested.

This is a grant funded position.

  • Schedule appointments, meetings, events, and other convenings of project stakeholders.

  • Develop and distribute agendas, meeting minutes, and other meeting materials.

  • Provide logistical support as requested for appointments, meetings, events, and other convenings, including those implemented virtually.

  • Coordinate calendars for multiple individuals and groups, using discretion and judgement.

  • Support the development and maintenance of relationships with project stakeholders, such as completing action items within agreed upon timeline.

  • Support the development and distribution of communications materials and other collateral for project stakeholders, such as collecting information, copy editing documents, and distributing materials to appropriate stakeholders.

  • Support implementation of change management and quality improvement strategies, such as conducting outreach and collecting and compiling data.

  • Support the implementation of data collection and evaluation activities, such as developing, formatting and distributing data collection tools and collecting and compiling data.

  • Maintain records as requested.

  • Answer inquiries and provide information related to Ascend.

  • Help elevate the role of families, community members, and residents in the design, implementation, and evaluation of place-based system building activities to that of expert.

  • Maintain a shared vision and goals with a multi-agency, cross-sector team that is inclusive of community members and residents, community-based organizations, government entities, and other service providers.

  • Value and respect diversity, lived experiences, and other individual differences within the workforce and community.

  • Demonstrate support for the mission, values, and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with Connecticut Children's standards.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

SKILLS:

1.Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

2.Intermediate to advanced skills in word processing (Microsoft Word, Google Docs), spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets), presentation design (Microsoft PowerPiont, Google Slides), and using survey instruments (Google Forms).

3.Operate basic office equipment (e.g. copier, fax, multi-featured telephone).

4.Time management in the context of a fast-paced environment.

5.Computer literacy.

  1. Maintain calendars and schedule appointments utilizing electronic scheduling software.

  2. Create, compose and edit written materials.

  3. Function in a fast paced environment with strong attention to detail.


High school diploma/GED with a minimum of five years of experience; associate degree with a minimum of three years of experience; or bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of experience.

Education/experience focus: public health, public policy, human development and family studies, or public administration.

Lived experience in an city and/or in an underserved community preferred, but not required.

Experience providing administrative support to a non-profit agency and/or agency serving children and families.

Experience providing administrative support and coordinating initiatives with multiple partners and stakeholders.
