What You'll Do:
The Bureau of Environmental Health and Radiation Protection is seeking a candidate to fill our Administrative Professional 3 position. This position will provide non-routine administrative tasks (i.e., independently formulates decisions &/or judgments involving non-legal interpretation of policies & procedures as they apply to the Lead Hazard Control Program). This position:
Acts for the program administrator to independently answer and respond to complex and/or confidential correspondence on programmatic and administrative issues (e.g., communication from outside groups [e.g., local health districts], Ohio Department of Medicaid, Operating Protocol, Interagency Agreement [IAA], and State Plan Amendments [SPA])
Reviews and summarizes fiscal and/or operational reports; research & prepares data for budget inclusion; assists in writing budget justification; monitors spending & maintains fiscal records
Communicates decisions, directives and/or assignments to appropriate staff; reviews and summarizes reports on operations and/or fiscal &/or personnel activities
Represents office or agency on lead-safe healthy homes related task forces or committees (e.g., markets and promotes Lead-Safe Rental Registry program
Coordinates deadlines for the SCHIP/Lead-Safe Rental Registry and ensures deadlines are met, and tracks items (e.g., DAS contract renewals, response letters, reports) to program manager, section chief, fiscal units and Ohio Department of Health (ODH) administration
Performs administrative support tasks (e.g., prepares confidential correspondence and/or reports, maintains confidential files)
30 mos. exp. or 30 mos. trg. in secretarial/administrative professional field.
Or completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from accredited career school or community college; 12 mos. exp. in secretarial/administrative professional field.
Or 12 mos. exp. as Administrative Professional 2, 16872.
Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
Applications of those who meet the minimum qualifications will be further evaluated against the following criteria:
Associate or advanced degree in secretarial science, office administration, office management or office technology
Experience with computer software (e.g., Excel, Access, Word, RehabSpec)
Experience providing technical assistance/customer service
Experience resolving customer and vendor complaints
Experience managing business functions of a program or office
Experience interpreting program policies and procedures
Experience preparing written documentation and communications
Experience monitoring spending and maintaining fiscal records
Experience communicating with various parties (e.g., vendors, property owners/occupants, Ohio Department of Medicaid staff)
