Summary

This position is located with the Economic Research Service, Information Services Division/Market and Trade Economics Division/ Food Economic Division/ Resource and Rural Economics Division in Kansas City, MO

The primary purpose of this position is to prepare financial or budgetary reports; assist in coordinating personnel actions; and maintain documentation and records in support of contract/vendor activities.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the division contact for budget allocations and accounting management matters.

  • Provides guidance to Summer Interns and other personnel and provides training in general administration skills.

  • Participates in developing and implementing long- and short-range plans, policies, and procedures for administrative activities

  • Maintains a procurement tracking system and reconciles all activities.

Qualifying experience for GS-09 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-07 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience preparing financial or budgetary reports; assisting in coordinating personnel actions; and maintaining documentation and records in support of contract/vendor activities.

OR

Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

OR

A combination of education and experience

At the GS-11:

Qualifying experience for GS-11 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-9 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience preparing financial or budgetary reports; preparing procurement reports and documents; coordinating personnel actions; and advising management and staff regarding procurement and regulations.

OR

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.

A combination of education and experience

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). If you are using experience to qualify: You may qualify at the GS-5 grade level (starting salary $35,271) if you possess the following: Three years of general experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the federal service that demonstrates the ability to 1) analyze problems, identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; 2) plan and organize work; 3) communicate effectively orally and in writing; and 4) use online technology and automation tools.
