Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

The KBI is accepting applications to fill an Administrative Officer position in the Offender Registration Unit.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • As an Administrative Officer, you will be expected to interpret statutes, regulations, policies and procedures.

  • You will communicate directly with the general public, law enforcement, court officers, department of corrections, and high level officials.

  • You will need to request and process court documents and criminal information for new offender registrations.

  • This position is responsible for reviewing source documents from federal and state courts to determine registration requirements.

  • This position will research and evaluate individual offender information to determine if registration requirements are complete.

  • This position will need to develop knowledge and understanding of the Kansas Offender Registration Act.

Qualifications:

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Minimum Qualifications

  • One year of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support work.

  • Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of offender registration and the governing Kansas statutes.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements

  • As a condition of employment, you will be subject to a pre-employment process to include a polygraph examination, fingerprint based records check, and comprehensive background investigation, including reference check of past and present employers. The pre-employment process will be waived for current KBI personnel who have previously completed the screening requirements
