Overview

We are looking for college students who want professional level experience within the Food & Beverage Industry and have the initiative, skills and drive to excel.

This internship will provide working knowledge and experience with developing, managing, and executing social media and other digital programs, executing catering sales administrative processes and reports, and other general F&B operations to ensure the overall success of the Food & Beverage Operations at The Palm Beach County Convention Center. Interns will gain working knowledge and experience the planning and execution of event and F&B advertising plans, catering sales and content creation.

This is a key position for the effective and profitable operation of the business. The intern must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a variable event-driven schedule which includes evenings and weekends. Open availability, professional presentation, outstanding interpersonal skills, self-direction and strong management and independent decision-making skills are required.

  • Pay: $14.00 / hour

  • Not to exceed 20 hours per week

About the Venue

The Palm Beach County Convention Center is a multi-purpose facility in West Palm Beach, Florida, managed by the Oak View Group. The Center features a 100,000 square-foot exhibit hall, a 22,000 square-foot ballroom and 21,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, as well as connecting to the 400-room Hilton West Palm Beach.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Food & Beverage Management Team, the candidate will....

  • Implement and maintain a social media calendar/strategy specifically for the Food & Beverage Department within the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

  • Assist with content creation and scheduling for F&B social media channels to support events, venue, guest services, promotional activity and premium sales goals, etc.

  • Ideate and create engaging, fresh, and interesting content to grow F&B social footprint as well as utilizing social media to support and reach sales initiatives.

  • Assist with conceptualizing and curating content to be used to grow the PBCCC F&B database and organic footprint across all digital platforms.

  • Monitoring sites and engaging in real-time social media activities during event announcements and on sales, event days, etc.

  • Capture engaging, behind the scenes content day of event.

  • Assist with other duties as it relates to the marketing department & the requests by leadership team.

  • Assist the Catering Sales Teams in the creation and distribution of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).

  • Assist the Catering Sales Teams with responding to client inquiries and email correspondence.

  • Attend weekly BEO meetings in order to plan and prepare social media content ideas specific to each event and food service and be up to date to respond to client emails.

  • Assist in the graphic design and execution of various printed branding and advertisements within the F&B department to include: signage for buffets and bars, printed and digital menus, food labels, etc.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Administrative and Catering Sales Teams

  • Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building.

Qualifications

  • Experience in digital marketing and social media

  • Current College student

  • Proven ability to think strategically with a willingness to roll up sleeves and execute on projects.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work in a team setting

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong understanding of current trends across social media

  • Willingness to learn and open to coaching

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Proficient in Canva and other online editing platforms

  • High level of demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ability to maintain sensitive information
