What We're Looking For

The Administrative Manager in Public Health is an integral member of the Department of Public Health at Baylor University. This administrative director (1) ensures that the department workflow is efficient and productive and (2) serves on work teams and committees to assist with project management across the programs. This person reports directly to the chair of the Department of Public Health.

A Bachelor's degree, three years of experience working in an administrative role in an academic department, staff and operations management experience, and an active Christian faith are required. A Master's degree and five years of relevant work experience is preferred.

  • Ability to set priorities to perform and manage a workload that includes a large number of interruptions and sensitive matters.

  • Ability to work independent of direct supervision.

  • Strong desire to learn, read, apply, and convey information accurately.

Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.

What You Will Do

  • Manage department projects as directed by the department chair.

  • Develop budget and manage department finances.

  • Optimize workflow requests and constituent engagement opportunities for department chair.

  • Provide support to complex administrative processes within the Department of Public Health (accreditation process, fiscal management, grants administration, staff hiring and supervising, data and information management, contract management, student stipend management, etc.).

  • Conduct research on updates, revisions, and the creation of interim and permanent department policies and procedures.

  • Assist with filling gaps in staffing or project management across the department.

  • Serve on committees or task forces where appropriate.

  • Support the work of department work teams, programs, and committees for the department residential undergraduate program, residential graduate programs (3), residential PhD program, virtual graduate program.
