The person selected for this position will:

  • Be responsible for supervising and managing the personnel, payroll, supply requisitioning, and other administrative activities.

  • Supervise the daily processing of payroll, personnel, and other administrative documents.

  • Form and maintain effective relationships with peers, subordinates, management, and other Regional Census Center employees.

  • Identify and resolve problems and clearly communicate the action associated with the encountered problems.

  • Prepare, review, and analyze staffing and payroll reports and assure the administrative operations are conducted within prescribed time schedules.

  • Oversee payroll and personnel activities, helps maintain the flow and quality of work to meet deadlines.

  • Request the approval of supply and material equipment as needed to ensure continuity of office operations.

  • Assist in setting up and closing the office, assuring minimal waste of excess supplies and equipment.

50% or less - Position requires 25% local travel and 25% overnight travel

EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have one year specialized experience for this position that includes training and delegating work to subordinates. Experience overseeing and providing guidance directly to staff. Experience working in a team environment to negotiate with others in order to secure support from multiple businesses and organizations. Experience communicating verbally and in writing with diverse populations. Experience setting priorities; and developing, monitoring, and/or analyzing detailed program/project requirements and implementation schedules. Experience reviewing staffing and payroll reports. Experience overseeing personnel and payroll programs and keep inventory of supplies and equipment. Experience maintaining records and creating an organized system to maintain the flow and quality of work to meet deadlines


EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in any area with Superior Academic Achievement OR one full year of graduate education directly related to the position.

Strategize and advise in university communications, meetings/travel schedules, campus and community events, etc. regarding the leader's role as it applies to each situation. Staff relevant SOM committees and work groups: develop and distribute agendas, attend meetings, record highlights, track action items and initiate follow-up as necessary. Maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems for easy retrieval. Initiate policies and procedures within the office to achieve maximum efficiency. Minimum Requirements Education and/or experience equivalent to an Associate's degree in a related field, and 2 - 4 years of recent experience working in a health care, hospital, university or similar environment providing administrative support to Director level or higher positions. Demonstrated extensive and progressive experience providing high-level executive, and analytical support with the ability to multi-task and prioritize independently. Demonstrated experience managing a heavily impacted schedule, with the understanding that a clinical environment is flexible and daily work schedules are fluid. Demonstrated ability to determine and locate relevant and reliable sources for the collection of information and data. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to utilize various software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer with a high degree of accuracy and speed. Skill in communicating effectively and professionally using tact and diplomacy. Demonstrated ability to interact with diverse and controversial issues and people in a professional and amiable manner. Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to compose business correspondence, edit and use correct spelling, punctuation and grammar. Ability to function independently and take responsibility for results; organize workload with close attention to detail; manage multiple tasks and timelines.
