The internship is designed to give a master's level student exposure to the inner workings of our healthcare organization. This learning opportunity is intended to refine the individual's analytical, technical, decision-making, interpersonal and managerial skills through project work while providing broad exposure to healthcare issues within the hospital and medical foundation. This is a 3 month (450 hour) internship experience.

This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.


  • Participates and leads ongoing planning and execution of internship projects as assigned by the Preceptor and members of Senior Management.

  • Obtains, analyzes, synthesizes, and interprets industry and institutional data, as well as market utilization and financial data. Assists in obtaining and evaluating benchmark data.

  • Performs independent analysis of operational, financial and statistical information using spreadsheets, financial modeling software and computer aided design software as assigned.

  • Prepares presentations and quality reports.

  • Presents, communicates and disseminates findings.

  • Maintains a current knowledge of emerging healthcare challenges facing hospitals and healthcare systems nationally.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the members of the Senior Management Team.

This position requires full time (40 hours per week) availability starting in March and running through the end of September. General Summary This positions primary responsibilities are: creating and maintaining GIS databases, producing maps, and providing data for and performing market analysis. The position will be replacing our Sr. GIS Analyst who will be on maternity leave. This is a full time position and the chosen candidate will need to be able to manage all aspects of the GIS work. There will be overlap with the current analyst, but the person who fills this position will need to quickly be able to accomplish high quality work in a timely manner under the current GIS structure. They will also need to be able to manage and prioritize work coming in while building trust with those needing work done. Essential Job Accountabilities 1. Gather, input, compile and work with our vendor to ensure data is properly uploaded into Granite's real property, GIS based mapping module. 2. Create and upload lease boundaries, reserve/mine boundaries, drill hole locations and links to logs, mine plans, compliance locations for safety and environmental, permit boundaries, asset ID boundaries, zoning boundaries, city and sphere of influence boundaries, etc. 3. Assist with other GIS projects as needed. Education 1. Applicants must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree with a Geography or GIS emphasis or related field. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Experience with ESRI's ArcGIS 10.2 Desktop including Network Analyst Extension 2. Strong Microsoft Office Skills are required. 3. Ability to mine for data both internally and externally especially from government agencies. 4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. 5. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills are required. 6. Good organizational, time management and prioritization skills are required. 7. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be flexible to changing priorities and deadlines.
