Administrative Director of Nursing and Emergency Services Detroit / Warren / Livonia, Michigan

Summary:
Responsible for the cost-effective leadership and management, quality of care and service, and clinical practice of nursing for the designated units / clinical areas.
Directs the Nursing Departments to maintain quality standards of care in accordance with current Federal, State and company standards, guidelines and regulations.
Plans and maintains a staffing pattern within budgeting parameters incorporating continuity of care, staff competency, patient acuity and length of stay, programmatic changes, technology and other factors that impact patient care and staff's ability to deliver care.
Facilitates the incorporation of evidenced based practice and nursing research into practice and operations.
Evaluates patient care delivery through written documentation, observation, and comparison to establish standards.
Initiates corrective action when indicated and or uses feedback to improved service delivery.
Achieves HCAHPS goals for nursing.
Manages the operations of the unit to ensure smooth and efficient patient care management and resource utilization.
Conducts the nursing process - assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation - under the scope of the State's Nurse Practice Act of Registered Nurse licensure.
Manages and facilitates patient centered nursing care for designated patient populations by serving as a real-time clinical expert for unit staff and physicians for escalated problem-solving on patients, processes, and family issues.
Shares responsibility for employee engagement, recruitment and retention.
Demonstrates leadership through coaching, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and development opportunities to create a culture of learning.
Education: Bachelor's of Science Nursing required Masters of Nursing or other Healthcare related field preferred Certifications / Licensure:
Current State Registered Nurse (RN) licensure Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification Certification in Specialty or Leadership preferred (Example: CORN, NEA-BC, NE-BC, etc.). Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment as an Associate Chief Nursing Officer or Nursing director of multiple, complex nursing departments.
Special Skills: Must be able to work under deadlines and utilize independent decision making skills in a wide variety of situations Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to manage and inspire a team Computer skills Great Opportunity!

The ideal candidate will be a Master's prepared Nurse with many years ED leadership experience, including Market/Regional level experience over multiple Hospitals. The position is broad in scope and functions within a matrix reporting structure. The role includes programmatic responsibilities in Nursing and Operations. Works in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer Council from a strategic planning aspect, and develops, monitors and revises functional processes as needed. Coordinates a cohesive approach to executing clinical strategies and patient care across the DMC organization, including performance excellence and quality outcomes. Translates data into practice. Works collaboratively with clinical leadership to standardize nursing practice to deliver high quality clinical care, incorporating research and teaching activities. Cultivates and maintains professional relationships with primary customers of the clinical area(s) including medical directors, physicians, physician groups and patients to enhance customer service and to positively impact core clinical measures. Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates systems/initiatives/programs to facilitate performance/quality improvements in keeping with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements. Implements rapid quality improvement interventions and Lean methodologies. Understands the benefits of standardization and how to drive its implantation through the service line to improve quality, efficiency, patient, staff and physician satisfaction. Approves procedures/protocols and/or seeks other departmental approvals, as appropriate. Develops, monitors and revises functional processes. Provides input into the development and revision of organizational structure for function or service. Approves personnel actions, such as hires, fires and disciplines. Ensures the timely completion of performance appraisals. This influence is limited to the site level. Specifically, the position identifies the need for policy development and/or revision, defines policies in collaboration with higher-level management input, goals and objectives. In collaboration with the executive senior leadership team and in cooperation with others in the hospital and System, assists in developing and implementing current to intermediate goals and measures for areas of responsibility. Measures and assesses performance. As requested, assists in long-range goal development. Develops and monitors budget for areas. Coordinates a cohesive approach to clinical strategies and patient care across the organization including performance excellence and quality outcomes. Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, Joint Commission requirements and company policies. Qualifications Master?s degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Business, Public Health, management or related field required. Academic degree in nursing required (Bachelor?s or Master?s degree). 1. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan. 2.
