Department Summary

The Department of Dance and Theatre is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, with approximately 400 theatre majors and minors in theatre. The Department offers a BA degree in Theatre with concentrations in Performance, Design/Technology, General Studies and Theatre Teacher Certification, and a BA degree in Dance and Dance Teacher Certification. The vibrant undergraduate program delivers a rigorous theatre education within a liberal arts context. The Department produces a full season (5-6 productions) as well as several laboratory events directed by faculty, guest artists, or students.

Position Overview

The Departments Administrative Coordinator performs a variety of administrative support tasks that are nonroutine and nonrepetitive in nature. This position requires the use of independent judgment and initiative. The various types of work include hiring, training, and supervision of the Admin. Specialist/Office support Assoc. Supervise both RTFP Front Office DATH Front Office hourly employees and operations. Departmental budget officer, Purchaser Supervisor, Auditing. Providing support to Department Chair. Assisting in organizing public events.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and three years' of highly responsible and varied office administration or business management experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Exceptional customer service skills.

  • Advanced written communication skills.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.

  • Knowledge of accounting/budgeting procedures.

  • Ability to work under pressure, to adjust to constant changes, to handle multiple tasks, and to coordinate the work of others.

  • Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats.

  • Ability to conceptualize, plan and organize multiple programs and assignments effectively.

  • Ability to work on complex and confidential tasks utilizing judgment, tact, and resourcefulness.

  • Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships. Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for providing assistance to the Department Chair. Handles departmental correspondence and keeps department calendar up to date.

  • Hire/Train/Supervise Staff, which may include Hourly Office Employees. Provides support and acts as a resource to assist in the resolution of various administrative matters. Assists with various special projects and community-building events in support of the department.

  • Responsible for purchasing, travel, and may include website maintenance and property control functions. Responsible for the collection of data and its analysis, the preparation of materials for meetings, provides assistance with the completion of reports.

  • Departmental ePro Purchaser.

  • Provides assistance with the departmental scholarship process, proceedings, and awarding per UNT procedures.

  • Provides assistance with scheduling of classes and Curriculog. Responsible for a variety of logistics: room scheduling, special events, and the timely delivery of materials to stakeholders.

  • Coordination of adjunct searches: fiscal matters and archival matters.

  • Maintain all departmental personnel folders.

  • Departmental HR Coordinator.

  • Identifies issues or problems and research solutions within specific areas.

Mon thru Fri; 8am to 5pm.
