About this Opportunity

Performs a variety of administrative support and office coordination for designated department. Assists with the implementation of Parks and Recreation best practices, and manages the department accreditation program; coordinates, implements, and manages programs, policies, and procedures

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as primary initial contact for the public and department employees. Answers department telephone calls, receives and greets visitors to the department, and provides information to or refers callers and visitors to other appropriate departments or City personnel

  • Coordinates use of cost tracking systems and continuous process improvements

  • Serves as the primary contact for special events within the department, coordination park and pavilion reservations, and participates in the citywide special events committee.

  • Prepares and submits financial recovery documents; acts as departmental FEMA liaison

  • Provides information for department press releases

  • Receives and processes paperwork for grant funded programs

  • Serves as program coordinator for Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) accreditation

  • Copies, packages, and distributes a variety of written materials as requested by other designated office personnel

  • Gathers, assembles, updates, distributes, and/or files a variety of information, forms, records, and data

  • Performs related work as required

Required Education and Experience

  • At least two years of relevant college-level course work or an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or a related field and one to three years of experience in program/project/event coordination and management, administrative support

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience (i.e. one year of relevant full time experience may substitute for one year of education)

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations

Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
