Position Summary:

The Communications Assistant is responsible for supporting school administrators and staff by performing daily oral and written communication tasks. The Communications Assistant provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the school office. Their duties include scheduling and organizing meetings for Administrators, greeting office visitors and composing documents on behalf of administrators, and managing social media sites.

Schedule: 9:30am to 5:30pm

Communications Assistant is a school year (ten-month) full-time position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support internal communications

  • Prepare and maintain presentations, reports, and media contact lists

  • Design visual presentations, newsletters, and flyers (internal and external use)

  • Event support (small and large events)

  • Social media content creation and management

  • Data entry, organization, and analysis as well as reporting

  • Documentation, filing, and archive support of photography and video archives

  • Marketing and communications projects as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills.

  • The ability to work with students and adults in a positive manner.

  • The ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Possess problem-solving skills and reasoning ability to appropriately address day to day instructions.

  • The ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues that supports a cooperative work environment.

  • The ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of employee, student and other sensitive school information.

  • The ability to set goals and establish methods for achieving these goals.

  • The ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, Google Education Suite, Constant Contact, graphic design and publishing software.

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.

  • 1 - 3 years of experience in the field or in a related area

  • Previous communications experience

  • Marketing and social media experience is a plus

  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office suite and Google suite

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work
