Position Overview:

This part-time (.5 FTE) position is a visible role that reports to the Associate Dean for Research (ADR) and provides administrative support to the work of the ADR and the Office of Nursing Research and Scholarship (ONRS).

Primary Responsibilities:

Provides part-time administrative support to the ADR which includes calendar management, meeting preparation, correspondence support, and other administrative duties as assigned. Monitors main program budget and ancillary fund budgets and provides information and reports as needed for planning and evaluation. Collects data, keeps documentation, and maintains records for the ONRS. Helps orient and supervise research assistants. Responds to questions about the ONRS. Plans and organizes events throughout the academic year, including creation and distribution of a research newsletter, updating research related websites, Scholarship Day, hosting visiting academic scholars, and meetings with faculty. Maintains positive public relations through expert assistance to students, faculty, and researchers and scholars within and outside of IHP.

  • Provides administrative support to the ADR including, maintaining calendar, coordinating meetings (distributing meeting materials, taking and maintaining meeting notes), coordinating travel, and managing reimbursements.

  • Assists ADR to oversee work of research assistants.

  • Collaborates with ADR to monitor ONRS budget and reports.

  • Produces and maintains record of processes and procedures for the work of the ONRS.

  • Develops material to disseminate the work of the ONRS including a research newsletter, event or news stories, website material, flyers or brochures, and digital advertisement material.

  • Communicates with the Office of Strategic Communication to promote the ORNS.

  • Plans and organizes ONRS events such as Research/Scholarship Day, hosting visiting academics, research/scholarship retreats, and research development activities.

  • Helps disseminate research/scholarship of School of Nursing faculty by assisting faculty in the production of materials such as abstracts, manuscripts, posters, and PowerPoint presentations.

  • Maintains positive public relations through expert assistance and serves as a resource regarding the ONRS to students, faculty, and research collaborators within and outside of IHP.

Education and Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • 1-3 years working in office or academic environment.

  • Familiarity with research a plus

  • Familiarity with social media or digital media a plus

A) Administrative Skills

Strong organizational skills

Attention to detail

Ability to interact effectively with administrative, faculty, and student constituents

Ability to juggle multiple simultaneous projects, set priorities, and delegate tasks when necessary

Proactive in developing/updating systems as needed to meet administrator's needs

B) Technical Skills

Computer proficient, MS Office experience required

Strong spelling and proofreading skills

Familiar with standard office equipment; fax, copiers, multi-task telephone system

Summary of Major Responsibilities: We seek a talented, highly-motivated post-doctoral research associate with an interest in developmental cognitive neuroscience to apply behavioral and electrophysiological measures to study cognition and learning in children with developmental language disorder. This position is NIH-funded and the initial commitment is for 2 years, with potential for extension. The successful applicant will hold a PhD or equivalent in cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology, communication sciences and disorders or a related discipline, will have demonstrated strong technical experimental skills, including experience with the study of event related potentials (ERPs) and will have applied rigorous quantitative methods to data analysis. Creative thinking and strong writing skills are also critical. The post-doctoral fellow will have an opportunity to develop her/his own research program within the themes of the laboratory. This position will provide invaluable experience for anyone interested in developing a research program in the fields of cognitive neuroscience, communication sciences and disorders, experimental psychology, or educational psychology. Support and mentorship will be provided to the postdoctoral to attend conferences, participate in grantsmanship training, contribute to manuscripts, and apply for external funding. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: * ERP signal processing and data analysis using Excel, MATLAB, Python and SPSS/R. * Statistical analysis. * Literature review and report preparation. * ERP and behavioral data collection. * Training and providing technical support for lab personnel. * Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: task design, developing training protocols and managing IRB protocols. * Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. PhD or equivalent in cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology, communication sciences and disorders or a related discipline, with relevant research experience and evidence of dissemination of research findings. The candidate must have experience with MATLAB and Excel coding, and with statistical analysis. Previous research experience with ERP research is strongly preferred. Prior experience with database management software (e.g. RedCap), and Eprime software for task design is also helpful. The candidate must be self-motivated, independent, mature and able to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
