ARIZONA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

The Arizona House of Representatives consists of 60 members. Each Legislature covers a two-year period. The first session following the general election is known as the first regular session, and the session convening in the second year is known as the second regular session. Each regular session begins on the second Monday in January and is required to adjourn no later than the 100th day from the beginning of the regular session.

JOB SUMMARY:

General office administration and support for Members of the Arizona House of Representatives concentrating in the areas of communications, written and oral, between Legislative Members, Staff and Constituents as well as outside interest groups and other agencies as necessary.

This position handles daily review and execution of office procedures as outlined by supervisors.

This position is responsible for the timeliness, quality and independent completion of administrative support and daily correspondence, completion of special projects, as assigned, compiling data and prepares reports, as directed; responsible for maintaining filing system, assisting in coordination of activities with other departments, agencies and organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least two years of practical work experience as a Customer service representative or Administrative experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

Computer Capabilities:

  • Working knowledge Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word is required.

Skills In:

  • Employee and customer relations, problem resolution, interpersonal skills are necessary in dealing with external and internal customers.

  • Excellent Oral and written communication skills are required.

Ability to:

  • Multi-task

  • Take responsibility for assigned duties

  • Maintain confidentiality

  • Resolve problems

  • Effective oral and written communication

  • Safeguard confidential information

  • Prioritize duties

  • Interact professionally with internal and external customers, co-workers, supervisors and vendors

SELECTED PREFERENCE:

  • This position always requires a non-partisan demeanor while on the job. The candidate must be able & willing to work in offices of either major political party's caucus as assigned.
