The Adult Community Transition (ACT) Program prepares students to move from secondary settings to adult-life (18-22 years of age), utilizing comprehensive transition planning and education that creates individualized opportunities, services, and supports to help students achieve their post-high school goals in education/training, employment and independents living. Under the general direction of the Director of Special Education, the Administrative Assistant- Adult Community Transition (ACT) Program will lead in the planning, development, organization, supervision, and implementation of programs and services pertaining to the adult community transition program for students in special education ages 18-22 years . The Administrative Assistant- ACT is responsible for identifying, recruiting, and engaging new employer partners, overseeing daily operations, consulting with existing partners, monitoring program implementation, reporting on findings, and using outcomes to continually improve the program.
Other essential elements of the position include: Evaluating teachers and classified staff within the Adult Community Transition Program; collaborating with schools and staff in providing an effective transition program experience for students, conducting a variety of meetings with parents and students, including, intake meetings and IEP meetings, planning, directing, and evaluating the instructional program across all ACT locations. Facilitate staff meeting and plan, develop and provide professional development for ACT staff.
LBUSD is looking for an administrative assistant that is an equity focused leader with supervisory experience and a strong special education background/knowledge. Additionally, it is essential that the Administrative Assistant has excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
