Position Summary
Under the direction of the Public Safety Director, this position serves a critical function for the University by communicating and organizing important information related to campus safety. This position requires a strong team player who can multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment while also being able to take initiative and be productive on slow days.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide high quality customer service to students, employees, and guests while performing reception duties such as greeting visitors in the department and answering the phone and responding to email
Serve as the Public Safety dispatcher during regular business hours, communicating timely information and campus requests via radio to Public Safety officers in the field
Perform various data entry and information processing tasks using a variety of systems/software
Assist with preparation and management of various reports, specifically those related to regulatory requirements such as the Clery Act
Manage the departmental email account by responding to inquiries in a professional and timely manner and organizing communication for historical reference
Create, format, and edit documents using Microsoft Office software products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Assist with the department's procurement process (e.g., office supplies, parking tags and decals, campus signs, officer uniforms and equipment, etc.)
Maintain strict confidentiality of all departmental matters
Contribute to educational and training programs related to compliance requirements and departmental outreach initiatives
Develop and maintain strong relationships with other University departments, acting as a liaison between them and Public Safety
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Attention to detail; written and oral communication; customer service; budgeting/finance; proficiency with Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint); employee relations; process improvement; research and report writing; employee training and supervision; working knowledge of information systems software and data management; decision making under pressure.
Additional Information
Experience
1.Bachelor's degree (or higher) preferred in administration, management, criminal justice, or other relevant field
2.3 years' experience in office management or administrative support services; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
3.Experience communicating conceptual and technical information both verbally (on phone, one-on-one, to groups) and in writing (emails, letters, reports, presentations) to various audiences (work group, team, university management, external sources)
4.Demonstrated commitment to uphold and support the Christian mission of Olivet Nazarene University.
