This is a full-time position whose primary responsibility includes performing moderately complex secretarial tasks and application tasks for the Nursing Department within the Division of Health Sciences.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining confidentiality of reports, communications, correspondence, and records.

  • Responsible for maintaining clinical contracts with facilities.

  • Responsible for changes to the nursing webpages for updated applications and information.

  • Responsible for reviewing student applications, gathering all missing information, and processing the applications.

  • Prepare spreadsheets of all applicants, noting various aspects pertaining to GPA, healthcare experience, and admission test scores for Nursing.

  • Process letters of acceptance, alternate or denial for students who have applied for the Nursing Program.

  • Assist with the acceptance of each class, orientation of each class and gathering of admission physical forms, immunizations and other related documents.

  • Monitor criminal background checks and drug screens.

  • Assist with adjunct faculty contracts and paperwork.

  • Maintain the program cost sheet annually.

  • Maintain the inventory list for TN Board of Nursing annually.

  • Preparation of FLAC contracts for all adjuncts for nursing.

  • Maintain minutes for the Department of Nursing.

  • Assist with Nursing Pinning Ceremony.

  • Maintain supervisor's calendar and schedule; making appointments, travel arrangements, conference registration and special events.

  • Typing of all reports, letters and records for the Department of Nursing and as needed for the Division of Health Sciences.

  • Maintaining adequate supplies for the Department of Nursing and as needed for the Division of Health Sciences

  • Answering telephones and giving information to callers and routing other calls to appropriate parties.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Sedentary: Desk work; travel will be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate well in oral and written English.

  • Qualities of integrity, initiative, and good judgment with high ethical standards.

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with individuals and/or groups.

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.

Minimum Requirements of Education and Experience:

  • High School/GED graduate.

  • Minimum of two years clerical experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's Degree.

  • Experience working with Healthcare Individuals.

  • Three years of clerical work with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Minimum starting pay is $31,300 annually ($16.06 per hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum of $37,500.
