The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible.
The Office of the Administrator/Commissioner is recruiting for one (1) Clerical Associate III, to function as an Administrative Assistant, who will:
point of contact for all visitors to the various Executive/Administrative Offices.
providing information to various stakeholders, internal and external agency personnel,
constituents, community leaders or elected officials.
maintaining visitor logs.
Answer phones in a professional manner, and route calls as necessary.
Assist with a variety of administrative tasks including copying, faxing, distributing internal and
external mail, taking notes, ad-hoc administrative duties and making travel plans.
Facilitate the booking of conference rooms for the executive senior leadership team.
Maintain office directories.
Prepare memoranda and other correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and
other materials to support the Commissioner as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
Preferred Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent time management skills.
Problem solving, organizing and planning skills.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
