Duties:
Assist in managing the administrative and business functions of the Division of
Permits Management by providing administrative information and assistance to the
Division Chief and staff on the practical and technical aspects of office
administration, including budgeting, acquisition and property management, human
resources, and other administrative support services, and to perform support
work in each of these areas. The position will coordinate, and process special
use permits for low to medium special events and demonstrations for nine (9) NCR
Parks.
Perform advisory services, including advising park staff on administrative
functions of the park, attending meetings, giving briefings on administrative
topics, and scheduling meetings and events. Suggest ways to improve
organizational administrative efficiency. 15%
Assist in coordinating the issuance of special park use permits and other
types of permits, providing information about regulatory requirements to
applicants and monitoring permit holders to ensure they are complying with their
permits. Ensure permit terms and conditions comply with condition statements,
NPS policy, and applicable laws. Maintain records and assist in cost recovery
fees. 20%
Provide administrative oversight of various administrative processes,
maintaining tracking logs, action items, and manages administrative suspense
items and transaction records. 10%
Perform file maintenance, simplifying and improving administrative and
clerical office procedures. Establish and maintain office files (paper and
electronic) Provide customer support to permit applicants, answering phones and
greeting customers. 30%
Assist with data collection and prepare reports and forms as needed. Compose
correspondence, memoranda, reports, etc. Distribute mail and serve as authority
on postage classification and rates, package requirements, and processing of
mail, providing advice to staff on mail distribution and routing procedures and
guidelines. 25%
