Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Administrative Assistant for the Narrows, Virginia location.

Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship required.

You will be responsible for supporting a group of professionals in an active chemical manufacturing plant as part of that plant's capital project's group.


  • General administrative duties associated with the day-to-day activities of the department

  • Updating project forms, databases, reports, and lists as necessary

  • Set up new projects and maintain existing ones in SAP and in file systems, both electronic and paper

  • Meet regularly with project managers to exchange and understand information relating to their projects

  • Maintain cost and hours files for the department's actual and forecast spends

  • Assure that new members of the department have the necessary tools, supplies and information

  • Inventory, order and manage printer, plotter and general office supplies and their upkeep

  • Manage month end project related financial activities

  • Coordinate lunch orders for meetings as needed

  • Maintain the department procurement card and associated record keeping

  • Print and distribute copies of large documents

Skills / Qualifications

Skills / Qualifications

  • 5+ years' experience working as an Administrative Assistant, preferably in the chemical manufacturing industry

  • Safety focused

  • Organized and efficient

  • Proactive in helping to improve the work processes of the position and the department

  • Should feel comfortable working in a team environment to collectively achieve the objectives of the department

  • Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Experience in SAP a plus
