Summary

Under general supervision of the Legal Services Administrator, the Administrative Assistant II performs a variety of administrative and clerical support functions for the Hays County Criminal District Attorney's office. This position affects the accuracy, reliability, and acceptability of further processes and services.

Individuals in this position serve at the pleasure of the current elected official.

Responsibilities

Performs general clerical and administrative duties including answering the telephone, filing, and typing correspondence.

Assists the general public via telephone or in person with information pertaining to various legal issues and questions.

Establishes and manages electronic and physical filing system.

Assures the services delivered meet quality and timeliness standards.

Assists with preparing and managing personnel paperwork and files.

Reviews, edits and processes with attention to detail all Witness Fee Claim Forms provided to ensure that all laws and regulations are being met.

Manages checks received in payment for Witness Fee Claim Forms, including preparing receipts and accounting reports according to mandatory county policies.

Assists with managing and distributing forfeited funds in compliance with federal asset forfeiture distribution guidelines and final judgments.

Coordinates with and maintains good working relationships with other agencies, county, state and federal departments, and keeps staff informed of joint ventures and resources.

Attends Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (TLETS) certification class to obtain/maintain license for accessing sensitive information including criminal history and driver's license records.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Two years clerical or administrative experience required, preferably in the legal or financial profession.

Other Qualifications, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Class C driver's license.

Bilingual preferred (Spanish and English).

Attend and successfully complete TLETS training.

Clear Criminal History required.
