Position: Administrative Assistant II

Location: Elections

Salary: $47,026-$60,316

Duties include but are not limited to the following: Under the general direction of the Elections Director, the employee plans, prioritizes, and carries out the regular work in accordance with standard practices and previous training.

The employee interprets instructions and/or adapts methods to resolve particular problems. Instructions for new assignments usually consist of statements of desired objectives, deadlines, and priorities. Technical and policy problems or changes are discussed with supervisor. Work is generally reviewed only for technical adequacy, appropriateness of actions or decisions, and conformance with policy, or other requirements.

Work environment: Performance of duties requires frequent contact with other City departments to provide and obtain information; Errors could result in delay or loss of service.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: Must have an Associate's degree; a minimum of three to five (3-5) years prior work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

Knowledge of all election cycles and department office procedures and practices; Knowledge of technology including but not limited to office software (word processing and spread sheet applications), financial database management software (i.e. Munis), election management software and use of the Internet and email systems in support of department operations.

Knowledge of the provisions of the State's Open Meeting Law. Knowledge of the federal census process and information content.

Abilities: Ability to plan and prioritize work, and perform multiple tasks in a detailed, organized, and timely manner; ability to work independently, and to be self-motivated.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department staff. Ability to interact effectively and appropriately with the public and other personnel.

Skills: Proficient customer service and organization skills; proficient written and oral communication skills.

Proficient data processing and computer keyboarding skills.

Proficient mathematical skills, recordkeeping and data base management. Proficient written and oral communication skills.
