SUMMARY: This position is responsible for providing skilled administrative support to location management. The role includes customer service, extensive communication with farmer producers, and coordination with location operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following reflects essential functions for this position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.

  • Probe, grade, and sample inbound and outbound grain at the scale, communicating information to the outside crew.

  • Provide grain purchasing support.

  • Process inbound and outbound grain shipping paperwork, including scale ticket creation and correction, weights and grades, and grain contracts.

  • Verify and prepare purchase contracts for mailing / signature.

  • Communicate customer purchase contract information as requested.

  • Communicate daily grain bids to our farmer customers as requested.

  • Submit accurate train billing to meet strict deadlines for end users.

  • Provide customer service and act as one of the primary points of contact for customers, including resolving issues and complaints.

  • Settle purchase contracts and prepare checks for payment.

  • Work with Grain Originators as needed.

  • Understand and utilize SSI appropriately.

  • Prepare and post deposits.

  • Assist the Location Manager in setting up customer meetings (customer appreciation, market information, etc.).

  • Run daily reports.

  • Answer, screen, and direct incoming phone calls.

  • Coordinate information/logistics between main office and fertilizer hub for outbound product.

  • Order and maintain office supplies, cleaning supplies, and safety supplies.

  • Perform general clerical duties, such as filing, faxing, typing, and mailing.

  • Perform general office cleaning.

  • Engage in safety awareness, and comply with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

  • Perform additional work during peak times of the year that exceed typical business hours.


  • High School Diploma and two years related experience.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (face-to-face, verbal, written, electronic).

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well within strict time frames.

  • Acute attention to detail, with good math skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of computer systems.

  • Ability and willingness to work long hours, and be on call, as business conditions warrant.

Specific Responsibilities What You'll Do: As the Multi-Site Controller, you will develop, manage, and provide accurate and timely financial data, analysis, and support to meet the financial goals of the CTB Midwest manufacturing business units. What You'll Accomplish: * Manages and provides accurate and timely financial data and reporting for various business units regarding sales, costs, labor costing, inventory management and finished goods value, etc., ensuring financials are aligned to the financial goals. * Develops, prepares, and provides clear and concise financial analysis and summations regarding key financial measurements, special initiatives, acquisitions, investments, etc. to help drive business results and assist with strategic business decisions. * Leads and partners on various initiatives to help drive the business unit profitability through financial analysis, integrating new financial systems, and streamlining processes. * Manages the physical inventory execution, accuracy, and validation to ensure accurate plant valuation and reconciliation of the balance sheet. * Partners with Operations to accurately and timely prepare the Annual Plan and Forecasting for the upcoming year. * Maintains cost effective internal controls by enforcing corporate and business unit policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems, as well as implementation of external and internal audit recommendations to ensure compliance with required Finance/Accounting principles or regulations. * Directly or indirectly assists with accounts receivable collection efforts to ensure timely payments from vendors, customers, or partners and to maintain a positive cash position. Requirements Position Requirements: * Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. * Experience: 5+ years of progressive general accounting and financial analysis experience in a manufacturing environment; public accounting experience would be a plus. * Certification(s): CPA or CMA preferred but not required * Functional Skills: Strong general accounting, financial analysis, manufacturing labor cost accounting, and cash reconciliation skills are required. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to research and review large amounts of data to analyze trends; solid problem-solving skills, and reporting/summations skills are also required; detail oriented with excellent planning, organizational and prioritization skills are also important for this role * Technology Aptitude/Skills: Excellent experience working with and migrating data transfers within ERP systems; Exceptional Microsoft Word and Excel skills * Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Leadership/Behaviors: Self-starter with high initiative to work independently and make an impact for the business; Collaborative with an excellent ability to ask solid questions to learn about the various business units and ensure processes/data are accurate and efficient; Strong customer-focus and compliance orientation are also important for this role * Culture Match Behaviors: A conceptual thinker who can take a vision and create better processes/solutions; Must be flexible and adaptable; Energetic, honest, dependable, and high ethical standards; Enjoys collaboration, being a team player, and leading/participating in continuous improvement processes Other Important Information: Salary: Salary is commensurate with proven expertise.
