The Administrative Assistant (AA) serves as the principal administrative assistant and management support in the Imaging Service (Radiology and Nuclear Medicine) at VA Central California Health Care System. The AA reports directly to the Administrative Officer and works in close communication and collaboration with the Supervisory DRT (Chief), and Chief of Imaging Service to maintain effective operations management.

Responsibilities

Duties will consist of, but not limited to:

  • performing work in support of management and/or program analysis functions in which knowledge of the purpose, operation, methodology and techniques characteristics of specific management/program analysis functions is required.

  • ability and desire to manage a wide variety of complex, and unexpected and nonrecurring problems.

  • He/she acts as an integral part of the communication and administrative processing regarding the Imaging Service-UCSF Medical Student Program, Internal medicine residency, the Fresno City Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist Program, and any new student affialiations.

  • working with the staff of UCSF Fresno and Fresno City to assign medical residents and student rotations in Imaging Service.

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 430pm.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/21/2018.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

  • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings and scheduling conferences; establishing and maintaining an efficient filing and reference system for all files; using automated data processing equipment to generate a variety of reports; typing letters, memos, reports, etc. in final form; processing incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication; establishing priorities and setting deadlines.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements:
Work is primarily sedentary. Some slight, physical effort may be required.
