DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Houston Health seeks a highly organized and detail oriented individual who has the ability to perform professional administrative functions related to the development and implementation of policies and procedures. The responsibilities for this position are as follow:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
1. Interpret and implement basic rules, regulations, policies and procedures in day-to-day WIC administrative departmental operations.
2. Gather & reconcile report data for accuracy, content and format on a weekly/monthly basis to present to management.
3. Prepare periodic and special WIC reports; compile information and maintain department reference information.
4. Explore food delivery inventory problems/potential problems by means of written and verbal communications; prepare findings and recommend solutions.
5.Organize food delivery inventory, cataloging, retention, and retrieval of department documents.
6.Assist in the coordination of staff services, including job postings, coordination interviews and submitting hiring requests; temp requests; purchasing; city vehicle fleet management and office management; supplies and materials inventory management; travel and mileage requests
7. Maintain confidentiality, electronic and hard copy employee documentation
8. Act as liaison between HHD business management and the WIC Bureau
9.Perform other administrative functions as assigned such as but not limited to asset tracking, public information requests, archiving documents, serve in special projects, procurement processes.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One (1) year of administrative experience is required.
Professional administrative experience may be substituted for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
None.Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
WIC Experience Bilingual (English/Spanish) reading
Writing and speaking preferred
Willingness to work weekends and evenings
SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED

Grants & Special funded positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
