The Position

Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.

The Highway Patrol Division (NHP) is recruiting to fill vacancies in the Elko office. Administrative Assistant 3's in the Warrants Unit must possess basic computer and Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Word; demonstrate excellent communication skills in oral and written form; be able to comprehend policies and procedures and execute them; pay close attention to detail; and be able to multi-task efficiently.

To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes The incumbent is required to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.

This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Nevada Early Intervention Services in Elko, NV. This is an under-fill for a Developmental Specialist III position. The incumbent will be auto progressed to the next level in the series upon meeting the minimum qualifications of the position and with Appointing Authority approval. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Incumbents must possess or obtain an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education issued by the Nevada Department of Education or a comparable certification issued by the Nevada Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C office within three years of appointment to this series or a comparable certification. (This license requirement applies only to those positions directly involved with children from birth to eight years of age with developmental delays.) Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
