Job Summary
The Administrative and Legal Assistant facilitates the efficient operation of the Legal and Compliance Department by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks.
Duties/Responsibilities
Answers and transfers phone calls, screening when necessary
Serves as primary backup for Legal Queue phone and email responses
Organize/prepare/assist Vice President of Legal in their daily operations
Review incoming and outgoing emails of Vice President of Legal as needed
Coordinates and schedules travel, meetings, and appointments for Vice President of
Legal and other department managers as needed
Retrieves information as requested from records, email, minutes, and other related
documents; prepares written summaries of data when needed
Prepare Expense Reports
Maintain Legal and Compliance Department PTO Calendar
Other clerical and administrative projects and tasks as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
Must have high competency in typing and correcting documents (75+ wpm)
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and document management systems
Ability to operate a computer, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and
other miscellaneous office equipment
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills - very good grammar and
spelling ability, and be familiar with legal terminology - ability to edit and proofread
correspondence and legal documents
Excellent customer service skills, phone etiquette, and comfort level talking with
business owners and executives
Strong organizational skills and good work ethic are essential
Ability to be flexible and prioritize/produce workload in a fast-paced environment
working within time constraints
Ability to work non-standard work hours as needed or required to meet established deadlines.

This position requires the highest level of confidentiality, as much of the information
which passes through the office deals with confidential legal matters, as well as
confidential internal matters including personnel, salaries, etc.
Education and Experience
High school and some college experience preferred; minimum of associates degree
preferred
A minimum of 3 years of related job experience in a law firm or corporate legal
department.
Physical Requirements
Sedentary to light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move
objects.
Ability to view computer screen, sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.
Ability to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open
office or private office
