Job Description:
Facilitates communications among caregivers, patients and visitors. Performs all clerical/computer functions to support patient care delivery. Coordinates daily patient flow activities. Manages patient chart to meet Medical Records requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent. Demonstrates the ability to work with multiple interruptions and adapt to changing priorities.

Computer experience and knowledge of medical terminology is required. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively. Must be able to attend and successfully complete a 6 week full time, paid, day shift orientation. This position has an every other weekend and every other holiday rotation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Secretarial, office and clerical education/experience is preferred. Previous work as a Unit Secretary, Unit Clerk or other titled position of which the work is done in a health care environment or on a nursing unit and includes nurse and physician interaction on a regular basis is preferred.

Ensure staff receives consistent and accurate training on network workflow, processes, and policies and procedures. Reviews regulatory and third party payer changes impacting revenue cycle operations. Functions as a resource and super user for operational leadership and revenue cycle staff for best practices and standardization. Responsible for knowing and training on all system software utilized by revenue cycle departments. Provide quality assurance feedback to operational leadership and staff through monitoring of work queues and dashboard reporting. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Routinely reviews regulatory and third party payer changes impacting revenue cycle operations. Prepares assessment of process and technical changes and coordinates updates for system changes and policy and procedure changes. Will specialize in their respective area of responsibility: scheduling, patient registration, patient accounting, medical records, and coding. * Performs new hire and remedial training on processes and policy and procedures. Content includes but is not limited to the following: registration, insurance, online eligibility, address verification, financial clearance, financial counseling, price estimates, price transparency, business office procedures, work queue's, customer service, scheduling, referral/authorizations, etc. Includes training on non Epic applications for revenue cycle. * Performs quality assurance audits within the revenue cycle departments. Includes monitoring of new hire and current staff. Monitors work queues, ad hoc reports, identifying any performance improvement trends to manager. * Coordinates with operational areas ensuring policies and procedures are maintained to support revenue cycle areas. * Coordinates the revenue cycle operational needs for new programs and sites to ensure effective capture of patient registration information and billing requirements. * Develops and maintains education materials related to revenue cycle departments in coordination with Information Technology Epic team analysts. Responsible for making updates to all materials and competencies based on system and process related updates. * Knows all aspects of processes and workflow of both front end and back office departments apart of the revenue cycle in order to both train effectively and function as a resource for those departments. Stays current in all aspects as updates occur. * Resource on the applications used across the revenue cycle applications both Epic and non Epic. * Learns and becomes "Super User" for revenue cycle staff on new system software as it becomes available in order to properly education staff on system. * Performs custom data audits and performance improvement initiatives as requested by operational leadership for revenue cycle departments. Includes performing an assessment of current operational process and workflow and providing suggestions for process improvement to leadership. * Uses Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in all aspects of the position. Utilizes Excel to compile auditing data and creates pivot tables. Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for education materials and eLearnings. * Utilizes Learning Management System (LMS) to provide education to revenue cycle staff and monitor completion of education, yearly competencies, and assessments. * Assists manager as needed with new site go live support, performance improvement initiatives across the network departments. This will include travel to network patient service centers when necessary. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sitting for up to 7 hours per day, 3 hours at a time. Standing for up to 1 hour a day. Continuous use of fingers and hands for typing, data entry, etc. Uses upper extremities for occasional lifting and carrying of up to 30lbs. Frequently stoops, bends, or reaches above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation and high/low frequencies. Seeing as it relates to general near and far vision. Visual monotony when reading reports and reviewing computer screens. EDUCATION: High School graduate. Associate Applied Science Degree Medical Administration or similar degree, or Bachelors in Healthcare or Business Admin preferred. Must obtain proficiency in Epic for the desired area of specialty for revenue cycle applications within 3 months of accepting the role. Epic Certification for the desired area of specialty for revenue cycle applications preferred. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Three-plus (3+) years of hospital or health care experience in an admitting, registration, or business office environment, or completion of above named degree. PC experience required including vast knowledge of Microsoft Office products with focus on Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Knowledge of coding and medical terminology preferred.
