Overview

Responsible to direct the operational, financial and clinical aspects. Monitors billing, revenue, and expenses and creates action plans as necessary and reports to the Chairman of Department and Executive VP, Chief Medical Officer.

Responsible for a commitment to advancing and applying scientific knowledge related to Institute for Pain & Palliative Medicine, and disseminating relevant information to patients, colleagues and public. Accountable for delivery of quality outcomes for patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction and employee satisfaction.

Responsibilities
1.Budget development and management. 2. Evaluates feasibility, cost, and priority of physician and personnel request regarding equipment and supplies. 3. Mentors physicians and direct report in fiscal responsibility. 4. Provides cost effective environment while maintaining a high quality of care. 5. Monitors monthly expenses and revenue reports and assures cost effective action plans to Chairman and CMO. 6. Monitors and oversees cash collections for physicians practice inpatient, outpatient. 7. Monitors Insurance plans for accurate provider payments. 8. Monitors billing processes for corporate compliance Identifies opportunity for efficiency of operations, effective use of resources. 9. Define Objectives to execute a strategy to create an advantage over competitors, communicate strategy and execute. 10. Collaborate with other health care organizations, health care providers and the community to improve the quality of Services across the continuum of care in accordance with the ACO's. 11. Develops initiatives to provide care that is patient centered, state of the art, and evidence based. 12. Demonstrate innovation in the structure, processes, and outcomes that are critical for excellence in patient management. 13. Analyzes of data relative to current, new and expanded services; HCAPS, patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, volume, etc. 14. Target areas in immediate crisis and offer suggestions and solutions in accordance with new initiatives with established policies. 15. Develop, reviews and revises policies in collaboration with the Nursing Department and Administration. 16. Provide access to multidisciplinary care through the involvement of specialists from a variety of disciplines focused on efficiency of operations, effective use of resources and improving patient outcomes. 17. Develop intervention to address the areas requiring improvement using PDSA model of improvement. 18. Human Resources: Recruits, Hires, Trains, Conducts Performance Evaluations, Counsels, Disciplines and Terminates direct reports. 19. Responsible to maintain and manage the operations of MSS for all direct reports and employed physicians. 20. Responsible to maintain and manage the daily operation of, Clarvia and People soft, time and attendance system for all direct reports and employed physicians. 21. Maintains a continuing review of the professional performance of all direct reports and ensures completion of annual evaluations. 22. Develops Job Descriptions in accordance with Human Resources standard of behaviors. 23. Monitors and tracks the Credentialing Process of new physicians, APN and physician assistants and R.N.'s. 24. Maintains and update the By-laws; Rules and Regulations for the Department. 25. Responsible for policy deployment by Directors and Managers to assure staff understanding, implementation, and compliance with policies and procedures. 26. DSC Certification for Palliative through Joint Commission; focuses on hardwiring Palliative Care though out the organization. 27. Responsible to maintain and ensure compliance for DSC certification. 28. Compliance with all regulatory requirements, i.e. State, Federal, Joint Commission.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university. 2. 5 plus years administrative/managerial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position focuses on expanding knowledge and skills, provides effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients. This position directs and oversees the care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination. This position effectively coordinates patient care/unit activities among nursing peers, physicians and support services. Responsibilities 1. Demonstrates familiarity with the shared governance model and the blue print for professional nursing. 2. Consistently and independently prioritizes and delivers dependable and effective patient centered care in a variety of patient situations, from common to complex utilizing the nursing process. 3. Performs ongoing assessment by demonstrating refined assessment skills, integrating appropriate data sources. 4. Plans individualized patient care based on assessment and implements plan to meet immediate needs in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. 5. Evaluates patient's response to interventions and adjust the plan of care accordingly. 6. Accurately documents the components of the nursing process per HUMC policy in a timely manner. 7. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively by identifying barriers to communication and seeks assistance in facilitating communication. 8. Identifies ethical issues in the practice setting and brings them to the attention of other team members. 9. Utilizes clinical policy/procedures as well as other practice references on HUMC intranet as resource to deliver proper patient care and achieve desired outcomes. 10. Discusses care as it relates to evidence-based practice. 11. Recognizes and responds to opportunities to promote and market HUMC. 12. Recognizes and responds to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction. 13. Adheres to American Nurses Association Code for Nurses with Interpretive Statements. 14. Identifies the needs of patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e. age, culture, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with patient, parent and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.). 15. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies. 16. Solicits and offers feedback on patient concerns and practice setting issues. 17. Demonstrates a developing leadership role by accepting the role of charge nurse. 18. Actively participates in practice setting management including but not limited to performance improvement, projects and committee participation. 19. Demonstrates ability to identify conflicts and resolve them with assistance. 20. Precepts the newly employed staff and students in compliance with established Preceptor Program standards. 21. Collaborates with Clinical Education to review mandatory education and annual competencies based upon accreditation, regulatory and HUMC requirements. 22. Accepts accountability for professional development. Qualifications Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Graduate of a NLN/AACN accredited program in nursing. 2. BSN; or minimum of 1 year experience for existing, internal RN candidates only. 3. Minimum of 1 year prior nursing experience.
