Saint Josephs University's Department of Theology and Religious Studies has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of courses each semester in Christian Theology. Professionals with experience and a passion for teaching collegeundergraduates will be given preference.

Individuals should be familiar with the University's mission as Jesuit and Catholic and comfortable working within that milieu. At the same time, applicants should be aware that theology, as taught in this institution, does not assume any particular religious background and emphasizes critical thinking and careful analytical skills.

Part-time adjunct faculty may instruct 1 or 2 courses each semester on an "as needed" basis. Courses available for adjunct staffing are offered during the day and also in the evening in 14 week format, occasionally online.

Our primary need for courses in Theology is for signature courses, Catholic Theological Tradition and Catholic Social Tradition. Other courses available for adjunct staffing may include:

New Testament

Christian Ethics

Theology and Science

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching of a specified course/language (face-to-face or online course(s))

Preparation of materials

Providing support and guidance to students

Keeping posted office hours (1 hr per course)

Giving prompt, regular feedback to students about their academic performance

Reporting mid-semester and final grades electronically

Secondary Responsibilities:

Cooperating with course coordinators or other program faculty to assure quality and consistency across the program

Minimum Requirements:

Master's Degree in Theology or a closely related major.

Preferred Qualifications:

ABD or PhD in any theological subdiscipline

Previous teaching experience

Willingness to be flexible in class scheduling
