WORK PERIOD: Monday-Friday, hours may vary.

Job Objective: The primary responsibility is providing comprehensive training and instruction to students wishing to become school bus drivers, ensuring they have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to safely transport students to and from school and/or activities. This role requires a deep understanding of school bus operations, safety regulations, and effective teaching methodologies. This position requires expertise in school bus operations, safety regulations, and effective instructional techniques to equip drivers with the knowledge and skills necessary to transport students safely and efficiently.

Qualifications:

• Excellent communication, presentation, and instructional skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.

• Demonstrated proficiency in operating school buses and teaching driving techniques to others.

• Knowledge of Oklahoma State Department of Education (SDE) regulations, transportation laws, and industry standards pertaining to school bus transportation.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

• Patience, empathy, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.

• Commitment to promoting a culture of safety, professionalism, and excellence in school bus transportation.

Requirements:

• Hold a valid Oklahoma Commercial Driver License (CDL), Class B (or A) with endorsements P (passenger) and S (school bus). B.

• Have a valid, current Oklahoma School Bus Driver Certificate.

• Complete a School Bus Driver Instructor course approved by the Oklahoma State Department of Education,

Or

• Complete "Instructor Internship" by assisting with two Oklahoma SDE School Bus Driver Certification Courses, under the supervision of an SDE certification instructor. Please note: The two internship classes must be with two different instructors.

• Following SDE certification as a school bus driver instructor, at least four (4) hours of in-service is required each year. Annual in-service must pertain to student transportation issues.

Experience: Must have experience driving a school bus in Oklahoma for at least two years, or in a related field, with a strong understanding of school bus operations, regulations, and safety protocols.
