  • Traditional On Ground or Online class: On-ground Class East Longmeadow Campus

  • Undergraduate or Graduate class: Graduate

  • Date class is scheduled to begin: 9/5/2024

  • Class schedule: Lecture meets 2 times each week for 1 hour and 25 minutes each time (for a total of 2 hours and 50 minutes a week), Labs (up to 3 credits) meet 1.5 hours each week (for a total of 4.5 hours each week with 3 lab sections).

  • Duration of class: 9/5/2024 - 12/16/2024

  • Time of class: Lectures meet synchronously face to face 2 times each week on the East Longmeadow, MA campus. Labs meet 1 time per week (with 3 labs this is a total of 3 meetings each week). Schedule flexible is possible to meet instructor availability but must fall between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm Monday - Thursday.

OTP 551: Pediatric Occupational Therapy Practice II (3 credits) with a 1 credit lab

This course addresses the practice of occupational therapy related to infants, children, and adolescents. Instruction builds on a cumulative knowledge base to focus on pediatric occupational therapy intervention. Students continue to learn the outcome measures and assessment methods that are appropriate for children and families. Emphasis is on common pediatric diagnoses, OT assessment, documentation, and interventions to address the functional needs of the child within the family and community.

Requirements:

  • Degree requirements for position: Master's or higher preferred.

  • Previous teaching experience preferred: within areas of OT and Pediatric.

  • Evidence of engagement in scholarly work.

  • Current Massachusetts Occupational Therapy license, or eligible and willing to get licensure in MA.

  • Participate in course development.

  • Ability to use the University's resources, notably technology, to promote effective teaching and learning.

  • Work collaboratively with the Program Director and other faculty to ensure the course meets accreditation standards.

  • Engage in the process of formative and summative course evaluation to enhance the student learning experience.

  • Adhere to HIPPA and FERPA privacy standards.

  • Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Should be committed to a culture of diversity, equity, respect and inclusion.

  • General knowledge of the University's mission, purpose, and goals and the role this position plays in achieving those goals.
