Adjunct Professor, 2D Arts - Northwest Florida State College

Job Description:

Adjunct (part-time) instructors are hired on an as-needed, term-by-term (or per course) basis. By applying for this position, you will be joining the part-time instructional pool for consideration as a prospective adjunct instructor.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide classroom instruction as assigned by the chair

• Provide excellence in instruction for 2-dimensional art within the Fine and Performing Arts Department for undergraduate students, including online courses.

• Assist in development and evaluation of curriculum as appropriate.

• Utilize approved textbook(s) and/or other instructional materials as approved.

• Provide student guidance and support.

• Serve as an ambassador for outreach for 2-dimensional art.

• Coordinate and/or provide maintenance, inventory, and acquisition of art equipment and supplies.

• Have a working knowledge of tools needed for the creation of 2-dimensional works.

• Participate in division recruitment activities.

• Coordinate and promote student participation in appropriate competitions, conferences, and festivals.

• Complete annual mandatory compliance training.

• Conduct each class according to the approved syllabus.

• Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) following college policies and procedures.

• Support students by engaging them in class, answering questions in a timely manner, and referring them for additional support when necessary.

• Be familiar with and abide by college policies.

• Assignments may be made at any location within the service territory and may require physical presence

Requirements:

• Master's degree in art or a master's degree in a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in 2-dimensional Art.

• Proficiency with teaching technologies, including lecture-capture software (e.g., Camtasia or Kaltura).

• Demonstrated evidence of professional development growth through participation in continuing education and other related activities.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• An earned doctorate in Art or a related field with 18 graduate hours in Art.

• Post-secondary teaching experience.

• Demonstrated success with online teaching

• All degrees must be from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.

Additional Information:

Classification: Part-Time Adjunct Instructor

Rate of Pay: $$1800-$2214 per class (Based on level of degree. Pay rate listed is for a 3 hour credit course.)

Location: Niceville
